(RYAN)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME TO TRUCKS. WELL TODAY WE'VE GOT A PROJECT PLANNED THAT REALLY
OUGHT TO GET THE ATTENTION OF SOME OF YOU DIESEL ENTHUSIASTS OUT THERE.
AND IN THE SHOP TODAY IS AN '05 DODGE RAM 2500 WITH A
FIVE POINT NINE LITER 24 VALVE CUMMINS UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. IT'S SITTING ON A SIX INCH BDS SUSPENSION LIFT
AND A SET OF 35'S. SO IT'S NOT YOUR AVERAGE PICK UP TRUCK. BASED ON ALL THE PINK ACCENTS YOU'RE LOOKING AT, WELL YOU MIGHT HAVE GUESSED IT'S NOT YOUR AVERAGE OWNER EITHER. THIS DODGE IS OWNED BY A FEMALE, AND SHE USES IT TO TOW A LARGE ENCLOSED TRAILER WITH A RACE CAR INSIDE ALL OVER THE SOUTHEAST. SO IT'S PRETTY CLEAR THIS ISN'T JUST SOME JACKED UP SHOW TRUCK. NOW LIKE WE JUST SAID, SHE PUTS THIS TRUCK TO WORK, AND WITH DIESEL BEING OVER FOUR BUCKS A GALLON, WELL WHO DOESN'T WANT BETTER FUEL ECONOMY. AND SINCE SHE TOWS A BIG ENCLOSED TRAILER AND ROLLS AROUND ON THESE HEAVY TIRES AND WHEELS, SHE COULD USE A LITTLE BIT MORE POWER WHILE DOING SO. BUT WHEN ADDING POWER WHILE TOWING, YOU'VE GOT TO MAKE SURE YOU DO IT SAFELY. NOW THE KIT WE'RE USING IS FROM SNOW PERFORMANCE, AND
IT'S THEIR COMP ONE WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEM THAT COMES WITH ITS OWN TUNER.
THE KIT ALSO INCLUDES A RESERVOIR, A PUMP, A WATER/METH CONTROLLER, OBVIOUSLY THE TUNER, AND IT PLUGS INTO YOUR OBD TWO PORT. NOW WITH THIS KIT YOU CAN ADD UP TO 250 HORSEPOWER OR 500 POUNDS OF TORQUE WITH THE ADDITIONAL GAINS YOU'LL GET WITH THE WATER/METHANOL INJECTION. AND THAT'S POWER THAT YOU GET SAFELY AND THAT YOU CAN'T GET WITH A TUNER ALONE. NOW THE TUNER IS MULTI PURPOSE. IT'S A GAUGE DISPLAY SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY A BUNCH OF EXTRA HARDWARE AND CLUTTER UP YOUR WINDSHIELD AND APILLAR, IT'S THE TUNER, AND IT CONTROLS THE WATER/METH INJECTION. NOW THE FIRST THING WE'RE DOING IS POPPING OUT THIS BODY PLUG SO WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO
ROUTE OUR LIQUID LINE. THEN USING THE MOUNTING STRAPS FOR THE TANK AS A
TEMPLATE OR GUIDE, WE MARK THE HOLES THAT WE'RE GONNA DRILL IN THE BED FLOOR. NOW THE REAR HOLES, NO BIG DEAL, WE CAN NUT AND BOLT THEM. BUT THE FRONTS END UP RIGHT OVER TOP OF A BED BRACE. SO UNLESS WE WANT TO USE SIX INCH LONG HARDWARE, WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WHAT WE ENDED UP DOING WAS USING OUR MATCO THREAD SETTER TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BUT BEFORE WE BOLT THE TANK IN PLACE, WE HAD TO ADD A COUPLE OF FITTINGS TO THE TANK, AND WE USED THE
SUPPLIED SEALANT ON THE THREADS TO MAKE SURE WE DON'T HAVE ANY LEAKS.
THEN WE CAN PASS THE FITTING THROUGH THE KNOCKOUT PLUG IN THE BED AND BOLT THE TANK DOWN. WITH IT LOCATED HERE IN THE FRONT CORNER OF THE BED, WELL WE WON'T LOSE ANY VALUABLE CARGO SPACE. COOL, GOOD! NOW IN BETWEEN THE FRONT OF THE BED AND THE BACK OF THE CAB YOU CAN SEE WHERE WE'RE ATTACHING THE RED LIQUID LINE.
NOW THE SUPPLIED ELECTRIC PUMP THAT PROVIDES THE FLOW IS GOING TO GET MOUNTED RIGHT HERE ON THE BACK
CORNER OF THE CAB.
NOW IT IS ISOLATED FROM THE SHEET METAL WITH RUBBER BUSHINGS.
SO IT WON'T TRANSFER ANY VIBRATIONS OR NOISE INTO THE
CAB OF THE TRUCK. NOW WE'RE USING THIS HOLE HERE ON THE BODY MOUNT TO SECURE THE SUPPLIED SOLENOID. AND WE'RE MAKING SURE THAT THE SOLENOID AND THE PUMP
BOTH FIT LOWER ON THE VEHICLE THAN THE TANK. THAT WAY GRAVITY CAN HELP OUT.
THE LINE FROM THE TANK GOES TO THE SOLENOID. THEN FROM THE SOLENOID ONTO THE PUMP, MAKING SURE TO SECURE IT. THEN WE CAN ROUTE THE LINE ALONG THE SAME PATH THAT THE FACTORY FUEL LINE TAKES. THAT WAY WE KNOW IT'S IN A GOOD, SAFE LOCATION. WE'RE DOING THE SAME THING WITH THE POWER FEED FOR THE PUMP. THEN WE'RE SECURING BOTH OF THEM WITH ABOUT A DOZEN OR SO ZIP TIES. THEN WE CAN PULL THE REMAINING METHANOL INJECTION LINE UP INTO THE ENGINE BAY UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHERE OUR NOZZLES ARE GOING TO GO. NOW WE KNOW IT'S ULTIMATELY GOING TO TERMINATE IN THE INTAKE ELBOW. SO WE'RE REMOVING IT SO IT CAN BE MODIFIED TO ACCEPT SOME SPRAY NOZZLES. JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO TEAR THE GASKET. ALRIGHT, WITH OUR AIR INTAKE ELBOW OFF, WE NEED TO DRILL AND TAP IT FOR TWO SPRAY NOZZLES AND FOR A BOOST REFERENCE. NOW WE'RE GONNA PUT BOTH OF OUR SPRAY NOZZLES ON THE FRONT SIDE OF THE ELBOW SPACED ABOUT FOUR INCHES APART. BOOST REFERENCE IS GOING TO GO ON THE BACK SIDE. SO WE'LL DRILL THREE HOLES, TAP THREE HOLES, AND WE'LL BE READY TO INSTALL THIS THING.
(RYAN)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK TO THE SHOP WHERE WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEM INSTALLATION ON AN '05 DODGE 2500 DIESEL. NOW WE'RE DRILLING AND TAPPING THE INTAKE ELBOW SO
WE CAN INSTALL A COUPLE OF INJECTION NOZZLES AND ONE BOOST REFERENCE FITTING. NOW YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE FACE OF THE SPRAY NOZZLE IS FLUSH WITH THE INSIDE OF THE INTAKE TUBE.
THAT WAY YOU GET A GOOD SPRAY PATTERN AND IT DOESN'T DRIBBLE UP AND RUN DOWN THE WALL OF THE INTAKE.
(KEVIN)>> NOW WE'VE SHOWN YOU IN THE PAST HOW TO DRILL AND TAP FOR AN EGT PROBE. WE GOT LUCKY AND OUR TRUCK ALREADY HAD ONE AND IT CAME OUT PRETTY EASY. NOW WE'RE JUST CLEANING OUT THE THREADS. WE DON'T EXPECT TO SEE MANY SHAVINGS, BUT THE GREASE ON THE FLUTES WILL HELP KEEP RUST AND DEBRIS FROM FALLING INTO THE INTAKE AHEAD OF THE TURBO. THE FITTING IS A FERAL TYPE FITTING AND HOLDS THE PYROMETER IN PLACE. IT'S PIPE THREAD AND SELF SEALS. SO THERE'S NO NEED TO OVER TIGHTEN, JUST GIVE IT A GOOD SNUG. THE PYROMETER GETS DROPPED INTO THE FITTING, AND WHEN IT BOTTOMS OUT IT'S A MARK. THEN BACK IT OFF JUST A LITTLE BIT AND SNUG UP THE FERAL TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. THIS WAY IT KEEPS THE PROBE FROM RESTING ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND POSSIBLY GIVING YOU
A FALSE EGT READING.
(RYAN)>> NOW WE GOT LUCKY AND WE WERE ABLE TO REUSE OUR INTAKE ELBOW GASKET. THEN IT WAS SIMPLY A MATTER OF REINSTALLING THE ELBOW, TIGHTENING DOWN A FEW BOLTS AND
REATTACHING THE PLUMBING. NOW THE NOZZLE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ELBOW IS THE POWER NOZZLE AND IT HAS A LARGER ORIFICE. THE ONE ON THE RIGHT IS A SMALLER ORIFICE AND THAT'S THE MPG OR MILES PER GALLON NOZZLE.
NOW WE'RE GONNA INSTALL THE SUPPLIED POWER SOLENOID HERE NEAR THE TOP OF THE FIREWALL. AND COMING INTO IT IS A SMALL PIECE OF LINE AND TFITTING. INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE "T" WE'RE GONNA PLUMB THE PIECE OF LINE COMING FROM THE PUMP UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK. OUT OF THE "T" WE'RE GONNA USE ANOTHER PIECE OF LINE
AND FEED THE SMALLER JET MPG NOZZLE. THEN ONCE THIS POWER SOLENOID'S ACTIVATED, WELL THIS LINE WILL PLUMB AND FEED INTO THE POWER NOZZLE HERE ON THE INTAKE ELBOW. NOW ATTACHING THE LINES TO THE FITTING IS A BREEZE AS LONG AS YOU GET A GOOD, CLEAN CUT ON THE END OF THE FLEX LINE, PERFECT.
(KEVIN)>> NOW THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT GETS INJECTED INTO THE INTAKE. IT'S BOOST JUICE, WHICH IS A 50/50 MIX OF METHANOL AND PURIFIED WATER. NOW SNOW PERFORMANCE HAS FOUND THAT THIS IS THE PERFECT COMBINATION FOR BOTH PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY. ON TOP OF THAT, WHEN YOU BUY IT LIKE THIS, IT'S CONSISTENT IN EVERY BATCH AND IT'S SAFE. NOW THIS TANK HOLDS ENOUGH OF THE BOOST JUICE TO WHERE YOU'RE NOT GONNA HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT REFILLING IT FOR QUITE A WHILE. NOW WE FOUND A GREAT LOCATION FOR THE CONTROL
MODULE UNDERNEATH THE STEERING COLUMN BEHIND AN ACCESS COVER. IT'S HELD IN PLACE WITH SOME CABLE TIES. AND IT COMMUNICATES WITH THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE
ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC PORT. NOW WITH THE PUMP CONTROLLER TUCKED NICE AND NEAT UNDERNEATH THE DASH PANEL, WE'VE GOT THE COMP ONE PLUGGED INTO THE OBD TWO PORT, AND THERE'S AN ARMING SWITCH RIGHT HERE. THE REST OF THE HARNESS IS ROUTED NEATLY IN BEHIND THE WEATHER SEAL AND COMES OUT HERE FOR A STANDARD WINDSHIELD MOUNT.
NOW THIS PLUG GOES INTO THE BACK OF THE COMP ONE. BEFORE WE CONNECT IT LETS TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT SOME OF THE FEATURES. ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE NOTICE IS THAT NAVIGATION IS EASY WITH THE COMBINATION OF A TOGGLE SWITCH AND A TOUCH SCREEN. THE FACT THAT THIS CONTROLS THE METHANOL INJECTION AND THE TUNER MAKES IT A UNIQUE SETUP. THE GAUGE LAYOUT IS SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND, MONITORING SEVERAL DIFFERENT VEHICLE SYSTEMS AT ONE TIME. THE LAYOUTS ARE ALL PROGRAMMABLE, SO YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE. THE COMP ONE HAS A COOL TRACK FEATURE SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT A 7,000 POUND TRUCK WILL DO IN THE QUARTER MILE. AND OF COURSE IT READS AND CLEARS DTC'S. NOW IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT YOUR VEHICLE
SYSTEMS ARE DOING BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ IT REAL TIME, YOU CAN DATA LOG AND CHECK OUT THINGS LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURES, OR EGT'S, MAKING THIS FEATURE VERY HELPFUL.
(KEVIN)>> HEY WELCOME BACK. WELL SINCE WE'RE ON KIND OF A DIESEL THEME, WE THOUGHT IT WAS HIGH TIME WE GOT BACK TO WORK ON PROJECT SUPER DUALLY, OUR BODY SWAP '79 FORD SITTING ON TOP OF A '97 DODGE CHASSIS WITH THE BULLETPROOF 12 VALVE CUMMINS
TURBO DIESEL UNDER THE HOOD. NOW WE'RE ALMOST READY TO FIRE THIS THING UP WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW HOUSE KEEPING DUTIES. ONE OF THEM BEING SOME KIND AN AIR INTAKE SYSTEM. NOW THE MASH UP OF THESE TWO TRUCKS HAS WORK SURPRISINGLY WELL WITH A LOT OF STUFF FALLING INTO PLACE, OR NEARLY SO, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS AREA RIGHT HERE, WHICH WAS TAKEN UP BY THE HUGE HVAC BOX FROM THE FORD CAB. NOW OBVIOUSLY FORD DIDN'T FACTORY IN THE PRESENCE OF A GIANT INLINE SIX WITH THE TURBOS NOW HANGING OFF THE SIDE. SO THE BOX HAD TO GO AWAY.
FORTUNATELY THE DODGE SYSTEM FITS UNDER THE DASH CONVENIENTLY BEHIND THE FORD'S FIREWALL. NOW WE HAVE ROOM FOR THE TURBO BUT THE FACTORY INTAKE SYSTEM FOR THIS TURBO CHARGER INTERFERES WITH THE FORD APRON. SO WE FOUND OURSELVES AGAIN HAVING TO DO SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. NOW WE HAD SUCH GREAT LUCK WITH THE AIRAID SYSTEM ON THE C-10 SWAP THAT WE THOUGHT WE'D GO BACK TO AIRAID AND SEE WHAT KIND OF OPTIONS THEY GAVE US FOR SUPER DUALLY. THE FIRST ONE BEING THIS STANDARD COLD AIR KIT FOR '94 TO '02 DODGE CUMMINS TRUCKS. IT COMES WITH YOUR PLASTIC DUCT WORK, AN ISOLATOR, AND AN ADDITIONAL HEAT SHIELD SINCE IT'S SO CLOSE TO THE TURBO. ALL THE HARDWARE YOU NEED TO MOUNT IT AS WELL AS THIS GIANT HONKING REUSABLE AIR FILTER THAT HAS THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF SURFACE AREA TO GET THE PROPER AMOUNT OF AIR INTO THIS ENGINE. BESIDE THE FACT THAT THIS SYSTEM IS CARB CERTIFIED IF
YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THAT. BUT IT'S NOT THE ONLY OPTION THAT AIRAID HAS FOR US OR YOU. AIRAID HAS JUST RECENTLY COME OUT WITH THEIR UBI SYSTEM, WHICH STANDS FOR YOU BUILD IT.
IT COMES WITH EVERYTHING YOU SEE HERE INCLUDING A GIANT FILTER, A FILTER MOUNT, SEVERAL DIFFERENT COUPLER
OPTIONS, A BAG OF HARDWARE AND BRACKETS, AND CLAMPS THAT YOU CAN USE TO CREATE THE SYSTEM THAT YOU NEED. THE COOLEST THING IS RIGHT HERE. THIS IS A HIGH STRENGTH ABS PLASTIC DUCT WORK WITH DIFFERENT SHAPES AND DIFFERENT ANGLES, WITH THESE RIBS ENGINEERED IN. WHAT YOU DO IS CUT IN BETWEEN THE RIBS AND YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING TO WHERE THE COUPLER CAN CLAMP TO AND IT WON'T SLIP OFF. OBVIOUSLY YOU'VE GOT TONS OF OPTIONS TO CREATE THE SYSTEM THAT YOU NEED IN A UNIQUE APPLICATION. AND BY THE WAY, IF YOU SEND THEM A PICTURE OF THE SYSTEM YOU CREATED, THEY'LL SEND YOU SOME FREE SWAG. NOW THIS IS A GREAT OPTION, BUT WHAT WE'RE GONNA TRY AND DO IS MAKE THE OE SYSTEM FIT FIRST. NOW WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT SOMETHING THAT FITS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IS THAT WE KNOW 100 PERCENT THAT
IT'S GOING TO FIT THE TURBO AND CLEAR THE ALTERNATOR. AND LIKE ANY OTHER MOCK UP WE'RE GONNA LEAVE IT LOOSE SO WE CAN MOVE THINGS AROUND FOR THE BEST FITMENT. THE OE COLD AIR KIT COMES WITH AN ISOLATION BOX BUT WE'RE GONNA LEAVE THAT OFF BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT REAL ESTATE IS DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT UNDERNEATH THE HOOD NOW. NOW THE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS AIRAID FILTER IS THAT IT'S NOT SYMMETRICAL AND WE CAN FOOL AROUND WITH THE SHAPE OF THAT TO MAKE IT FIT THE CLEARANCES THAT WE HAVE TO WORK WITHIN. NOW SOMEWHERE IN THERE, THAT, THAT GIVES US THE OPTION WE WANT. WE CAN CREATE A MOUNT OFF HERE. THAT OE FILTER BOX IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. SO WERE GONNA HAVE TO FIGURE OUT SOME KIND OF ISOLATION BETWEEN THE TURBO AND THE FILTER, BUT WE CAN DEAL WITH THAT LATER. FOR NOW THIS WORKS.

ISN'T ALWAYS EASY. WELL LETS SEE HOW THIS THING DOES PULLING THIS ON RAMP. NOW LATE MODEL DIESEL TRUCKS USUALLY MAKE MORE THAN ENOUGH HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE TO MOVE A HEAVY LOAD LIKE THIS TRAILER. BUT HAVING MORE POWER AND DOING IT SAFELY, THAT'S JUST A WIN/WIN. WELL IT HAS NO PROBLEMS GETTING UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED.

AND HAVING MORE POWER AND TORQUE ON DEMAND IS ACTUALLY MORE EFFICIENT AND WILL SAVE YOU FUEL. YOU'RE NOT JAMMING A BUNCH MORE FUEL DOWN INTO THE CYLINDER THAT'S GETTING TOSSED OUT THE END OF THE TAIL PIPE. IT'S ACTUALLY GETTING BURNT AND BURNED EFFICIENTLY. YOU COMBINE THAT WITH A LOWER EGT TEMPERATURE, WELL THE TRUCK'S HAPPIER AND YOU'RE HAPPIER TOO THE NEXT TIME YOU GO AND FILL UP.

FIVE POINT NINE LITER 24 VALVE CUMMINS UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. IT'S SITTING ON A SIX INCH BDS SUSPENSION LIFT
AND A SET OF 35'S. SO IT'S NOT YOUR AVERAGE PICK UP TRUCK. BASED ON ALL THE PINK ACCENTS YOU'RE LOOKING AT, WELL YOU MIGHT HAVE GUESSED IT'S NOT YOUR AVERAGE OWNER EITHER. THIS DODGE IS OWNED BY A FEMALE, AND SHE USES IT TO TOW A LARGE ENCLOSED TRAILER WITH A RACE CAR INSIDE ALL OVER THE SOUTHEAST. SO IT'S PRETTY CLEAR THIS ISN'T JUST SOME JACKED UP SHOW TRUCK. BUT WHEN ADDING POWER WHILE TOWING, YOU'VE GOT TO MAKE SURE YOU DO IT SAFELY. NOW THE KIT WE'RE USING IS FROM SNOW PERFORMANCE, AND
IT'S THEIR COMP ONE WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEM THAT COMES WITH ITS OWN TUNER.
THE KIT ALSO INCLUDES A RESERVOIR, A PUMP, A WATER/METH CONTROLLER, OBVIOUSLY THE TUNER, AND IT PLUGS INTO YOUR OBD TWO PORT. NOW WITH THIS KIT YOU CAN ADD UP TO 250 HORSEPOWER OR 500 POUNDS OF TORQUE WITH THE ADDITIONAL GAINS YOU'LL GET WITH THE WATER/METHANOL INJECTION. NOW THE FIRST THING WE'RE DOING IS POPPING OUT THIS BODY PLUG SO WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO
ROUTE OUR LIQUID LINE. THEN USING THE MOUNTING STRAPS FOR THE TANK AS A
TEMPLATE OR GUIDE, WE MARK THE HOLES THAT WE'RE GONNA DRILL IN THE BED FLOOR. NOW THE REAR HOLES, NO BIG DEAL, WE CAN NUT AND BOLT THEM. BUT THE FRONTS END UP RIGHT OVER TOP OF A BED BRACE. SO UNLESS WE WANT TO USE SIX INCH LONG HARDWARE, WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WHAT WE ENDED UP DOING WAS USING OUR MATCO THREAD SETTER TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BUT BEFORE WE BOLT THE TANK IN PLACE, WE HAD TO ADD A COUPLE OF FITTINGS TO THE TANK, AND WE USED THE
SUPPLIED SEALANT ON THE THREADS TO MAKE SURE WE DON'T HAVE ANY LEAKS.
THEN WE CAN PASS THE FITTING THROUGH THE KNOCKOUT PLUG IN THE BED AND BOLT THE TANK DOWN. WITH IT LOCATED HERE IN THE FRONT CORNER OF THE BED, WELL WE WON'T LOSE ANY VALUABLE CARGO SPACE. COOL, GOOD! NOW IN BETWEEN THE FRONT OF THE BED AND THE BACK OF THE CAB YOU CAN SEE WHERE WE'RE ATTACHING THE RED LIQUID LINE.
NOW THE SUPPLIED ELECTRIC PUMP THAT PROVIDES THE FLOW IS GOING TO GET MOUNTED RIGHT HERE ON THE BACK
CORNER OF THE CAB.
NOW IT IS ISOLATED FROM THE SHEET METAL WITH RUBBER BUSHINGS.
SO IT WON'T TRANSFER ANY VIBRATIONS OR NOISE INTO THE
CAB OF THE TRUCK. NOW WE'RE USING THIS HOLE HERE ON THE BODY MOUNT TO SECURE THE SUPPLIED SOLENOID. AND WE'RE MAKING SURE THAT THE SOLENOID AND THE PUMP
BOTH FIT LOWER ON THE VEHICLE THAN THE TANK. THAT WAY GRAVITY CAN HELP OUT.
THE LINE FROM THE TANK GOES TO THE SOLENOID. THEN FROM THE SOLENOID ONTO THE PUMP, MAKING SURE TO SECURE IT. THEN WE CAN ROUTE THE LINE ALONG THE SAME PATH THAT THE FACTORY FUEL LINE TAKES. THAT WAY WE KNOW IT'S IN A GOOD, SAFE LOCATION. WE'RE DOING THE SAME THING WITH THE POWER FEED FOR THE PUMP. THEN WE'RE SECURING BOTH OF THEM WITH ABOUT A DOZEN OR SO ZIP TIES. THEN WE CAN PULL THE REMAINING METHANOL INJECTION LINE UP INTO THE ENGINE BAY UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHERE OUR NOZZLES ARE GOING TO GO. NOW WE KNOW IT'S ULTIMATELY GOING TO TERMINATE IN THE INTAKE ELBOW. SO WE'RE REMOVING IT SO IT CAN BE MODIFIED TO ACCEPT SOME SPRAY NOZZLES. JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO TEAR THE GASKET. ALRIGHT, WITH OUR AIR INTAKE ELBOW OFF, WE NEED TO DRILL AND TAP IT FOR TWO SPRAY NOZZLES AND FOR A BOOST REFERENCE. NOW WE'RE GONNA PUT BOTH OF OUR SPRAY NOZZLES ON THE FRONT SIDE OF THE ELBOW SPACED ABOUT FOUR INCHES APART. BOOST REFERENCE IS GOING TO GO ON THE BACK SIDE. SO WE'LL DRILL THREE HOLES, TAP THREE HOLES, AND WE'LL BE READY TO INSTALL THIS THING.
(RYAN)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK TO THE SHOP WHERE WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEM INSTALLATION ON AN '05 DODGE 2500 DIESEL. NOW WE'RE DRILLING AND TAPPING THE INTAKE ELBOW SO
WE CAN INSTALL A COUPLE OF INJECTION NOZZLES AND ONE BOOST REFERENCE FITTING. NOW YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE FACE OF THE SPRAY NOZZLE IS FLUSH WITH THE INSIDE OF THE INTAKE TUBE.
THAT WAY YOU GET A GOOD SPRAY PATTERN AND IT DOESN'T DRIBBLE UP AND RUN DOWN THE WALL OF THE INTAKE.
(KEVIN)>> NOW WE'VE SHOWN YOU IN THE PAST HOW TO DRILL AND TAP FOR AN EGT PROBE. WE GOT LUCKY AND OUR TRUCK ALREADY HAD ONE AND IT CAME OUT PRETTY EASY. NOW WE'RE JUST CLEANING OUT THE THREADS. WE DON'T EXPECT TO SEE MANY SHAVINGS, BUT THE GREASE ON THE FLUTES WILL HELP KEEP RUST AND DEBRIS FROM FALLING INTO THE INTAKE AHEAD OF THE TURBO. THE FITTING IS A FERAL TYPE FITTING AND HOLDS THE PYROMETER IN PLACE. IT'S PIPE THREAD AND SELF SEALS. SO THERE'S NO NEED TO OVER TIGHTEN, JUST GIVE IT A GOOD SNUG. THE PYROMETER GETS DROPPED INTO THE FITTING, AND WHEN IT BOTTOMS OUT IT'S A MARK. THEN BACK IT OFF JUST A LITTLE BIT AND SNUG UP THE FERAL TO HOLD IT IN PLACE. THIS WAY IT KEEPS THE PROBE FROM RESTING ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND POSSIBLY GIVING YOU
A FALSE EGT READING.
(RYAN)>> NOW WE GOT LUCKY AND WE WERE ABLE TO REUSE OUR INTAKE ELBOW GASKET. THEN IT WAS SIMPLY A MATTER OF REINSTALLING THE ELBOW, TIGHTENING DOWN A FEW BOLTS AND
REATTACHING THE PLUMBING. NOW THE NOZZLE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ELBOW IS THE POWER NOZZLE AND IT HAS A LARGER ORIFICE. THE ONE ON THE RIGHT IS A SMALLER ORIFICE AND THAT'S THE MPG OR MILES PER GALLON NOZZLE.
NOW WE'RE GONNA INSTALL THE SUPPLIED POWER SOLENOID HERE NEAR THE TOP OF THE FIREWALL. AND COMING INTO IT IS A SMALL PIECE OF LINE AND TFITTING. INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE "T" WE'RE GONNA PLUMB THE PIECE OF LINE COMING FROM THE PUMP UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK. OUT OF THE "T" WE'RE GONNA USE ANOTHER PIECE OF LINE
AND FEED THE SMALLER JET MPG NOZZLE. THEN ONCE THIS POWER SOLENOID'S ACTIVATED, WELL THIS LINE WILL PLUMB AND FEED INTO THE POWER NOZZLE HERE ON THE INTAKE ELBOW. NOW ATTACHING THE LINES TO THE FITTING IS A BREEZE AS LONG AS YOU GET A GOOD, CLEAN CUT ON THE END OF THE FLEX LINE, PERFECT.
(KEVIN)>> NOW THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT GETS INJECTED INTO THE INTAKE. IT'S BOOST JUICE, WHICH IS A 50/50 MIX OF METHANOL AND PURIFIED WATER. NOW SNOW PERFORMANCE HAS FOUND THAT THIS IS THE PERFECT COMBINATION FOR BOTH PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY. ON TOP OF THAT, WHEN YOU BUY IT LIKE THIS, IT'S CONSISTENT IN EVERY BATCH AND IT'S SAFE. NOW THIS TANK HOLDS ENOUGH OF THE BOOST JUICE TO WHERE YOU'RE NOT GONNA HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT REFILLING IT FOR QUITE A WHILE. NOW WE FOUND A GREAT LOCATION FOR THE CONTROL
MODULE UNDERNEATH THE STEERING COLUMN BEHIND AN ACCESS COVER. IT'S HELD IN PLACE WITH SOME CABLE TIES. AND IT COMMUNICATES WITH THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE
ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC PORT. NOW WITH THE PUMP CONTROLLER TUCKED NICE AND NEAT UNDERNEATH THE DASH PANEL, WE'VE GOT THE COMP ONE PLUGGED INTO THE OBD TWO PORT, AND THERE'S AN ARMING SWITCH RIGHT HERE. THE REST OF THE HARNESS IS ROUTED NEATLY IN BEHIND THE WEATHER SEAL AND COMES OUT HERE FOR A STANDARD WINDSHIELD MOUNT.
NOW THIS PLUG GOES INTO THE BACK OF THE COMP ONE. BEFORE WE CONNECT IT LETS TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT SOME OF THE FEATURES. ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE NOTICE IS THAT NAVIGATION IS EASY WITH THE COMBINATION OF A TOGGLE SWITCH AND A TOUCH SCREEN. THE FACT THAT THIS CONTROLS THE METHANOL INJECTION AND THE TUNER MAKES IT A UNIQUE SETUP. THE GAUGE LAYOUT IS SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND, MONITORING SEVERAL DIFFERENT VEHICLE SYSTEMS AT ONE TIME. THE LAYOUTS ARE ALL PROGRAMMABLE, SO YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE. THE COMP ONE HAS A COOL TRACK FEATURE SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT A 7,000 POUND TRUCK WILL DO IN THE QUARTER MILE. AND OF COURSE IT READS AND CLEARS DTC'S. NOW IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT YOUR VEHICLE
SYSTEMS ARE DOING BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ IT REAL TIME, YOU CAN DATA LOG AND CHECK OUT THINGS LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURES, OR EGT'S, MAKING THIS FEATURE VERY HELPFUL.
(KEVIN)>> HEY WELCOME BACK. WELL SINCE WE'RE ON KIND OF A DIESEL THEME, WE THOUGHT IT WAS HIGH TIME WE GOT BACK TO WORK ON PROJECT SUPER DUALLY, OUR BODY SWAP '79 FORD SITTING ON TOP OF A '97 DODGE CHASSIS WITH THE BULLETPROOF 12 VALVE CUMMINS
TURBO DIESEL UNDER THE HOOD. NOW WE'RE ALMOST READY TO FIRE THIS THING UP WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW HOUSE KEEPING DUTIES. ONE OF THEM BEING SOME KIND AN AIR INTAKE SYSTEM. NOW THE MASH UP OF THESE TWO TRUCKS HAS WORK SURPRISINGLY WELL WITH A LOT OF STUFF FALLING INTO PLACE, OR NEARLY SO, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS AREA RIGHT HERE, WHICH WAS TAKEN UP BY THE HUGE HVAC BOX FROM THE FORD CAB. NOW OBVIOUSLY FORD DIDN'T FACTORY IN THE PRESENCE OF A GIANT INLINE SIX WITH THE TURBOS NOW HANGING OFF THE SIDE. SO THE BOX HAD TO GO AWAY.
FORTUNATELY THE DODGE SYSTEM FITS UNDER THE DASH CONVENIENTLY BEHIND THE FORD'S FIREWALL. NOW WE HAVE ROOM FOR THE TURBO BUT THE FACTORY INTAKE SYSTEM FOR THIS TURBO CHARGER INTERFERES WITH THE FORD APRON. SO WE FOUND OURSELVES AGAIN HAVING TO DO SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. NOW WE HAD SUCH GREAT LUCK WITH THE AIRAID SYSTEM ON THE C-10 SWAP THAT WE THOUGHT WE'D GO BACK TO AIRAID AND SEE WHAT KIND OF OPTIONS THEY GAVE US FOR SUPER DUALLY. THE FIRST ONE BEING THIS STANDARD COLD AIR KIT FOR '94 TO '02 DODGE CUMMINS TRUCKS. IT COMES WITH YOUR PLASTIC DUCT WORK, AN ISOLATOR, AND AN ADDITIONAL HEAT SHIELD SINCE IT'S SO CLOSE TO THE TURBO. ALL THE HARDWARE YOU NEED TO MOUNT IT AS WELL AS THIS GIANT HONKING REUSABLE AIR FILTER THAT HAS THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF SURFACE AREA TO GET THE PROPER AMOUNT OF AIR INTO THIS ENGINE. BESIDE THE FACT THAT THIS SYSTEM IS CARB CERTIFIED IF
YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THAT. BUT IT'S NOT THE ONLY OPTION THAT AIRAID HAS FOR US OR YOU. AIRAID HAS JUST RECENTLY COME OUT WITH THEIR UBI SYSTEM, WHICH STANDS FOR YOU BUILD IT.

THIS IS A HIGH STRENGTH ABS PLASTIC DUCT WORK WITH DIFFERENT SHAPES AND DIFFERENT ANGLES, WITH THESE RIBS ENGINEERED IN. WHAT YOU DO IS CUT IN BETWEEN THE RIBS AND YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING TO WHERE THE COUPLER CAN CLAMP TO AND IT WON'T SLIP OFF. OBVIOUSLY YOU'VE GOT TONS OF OPTIONS TO CREATE THE SYSTEM THAT YOU NEED IN A UNIQUE APPLICATION. AND BY THE WAY, IF YOU SEND THEM A PICTURE OF THE SYSTEM YOU CREATED, THEY'LL SEND YOU SOME FREE SWAG. NOW THIS IS A GREAT OPTION, BUT WHAT WE'RE GONNA TRY AND DO IS MAKE THE OE SYSTEM FIT FIRST. NOW WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT SOMETHING THAT FITS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IS THAT WE KNOW 100 PERCENT THAT
IT'S GOING TO FIT THE TURBO AND CLEAR THE ALTERNATOR. AND LIKE ANY OTHER MOCK UP WE'RE GONNA LEAVE IT LOOSE SO WE CAN MOVE THINGS AROUND FOR THE BEST FITMENT. THE OE COLD AIR KIT COMES WITH AN ISOLATION BOX BUT WE'RE GONNA LEAVE THAT OFF BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT REAL ESTATE IS DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT UNDERNEATH THE HOOD NOW. NOW THE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS AIRAID FILTER IS THAT IT'S NOT SYMMETRICAL AND WE CAN FOOL AROUND WITH THE SHAPE OF THAT TO MAKE IT FIT THE CLEARANCES THAT WE HAVE TO WORK WITHIN.
