(NARRATOR)>> TODAY OUR "KLASSY KFIVE" BLAZES TO THE FINISH LINE WITH A SLEW OF NEW GOODIES. PLUS THE DIESEL DUALLY GETS COLOR MATCHED PARTS THAT SAY HEY, GET OUT OF MY WAY. THAT AND MORE RIGHT NOW ON TRUCK TECH.
(JEREMY)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME TO TRUCK TECH. TODAY WE'RE GONNA BE WORKING ON TWO DIFFERENT PROJECTS. NOW WE'VE MADE A LOT OF HEADWAY ON OUR BLAZER RECENTLY BUT TODAY WE'RE GONNA SEE IF WE CAN TAKE THAT A STEP FURTHER. WE'RE GONNA HANG A FEW PARTS ON HERE AND SEE IF WE CAN MAKE THIS THING LOOK LIKE A TRUCK.
(LT)>> WE'RE ALSO GONNA BE WORKING ON OUR 2016 RAM DUALLY. LATELY WE'VE BEEN SPENDING A LOT OF TIME UNDERNEATH THE HOOD ADDING SOME HORSEPOWER, AND WE'RE GONNA GET BACK TO THAT A LITTLE BIT LATER ON, BUT TODAY WE'RE GONNA WORK ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE TRUCK. WE PICKED UP A COUPLE OF BUMPERS THAT WE'RE GONNA BOLT ON, AND IT'LL REALLY IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF THE TRUCK. NOW OBVIOUSLY THESE ARE IN BARE METAL. SO I'M GONNA SHOW YOU GUYS AN EASY WAY AT HOME THAT YOU CAN APPLY A COATING TO THOSE AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE ALL THOSE FANCY PAINT TOOLS, LIKE A SPRAY GUN AND AN AIR COMPRESSOR.
I WAS.
(JEREMY)>> YOU ALL KNOW HOW MUCH LT LOVES PAINT. SO HE'S ALWAYS MESSING WITH ME LIKE THAT, BUT I THINK THAT PAINT BRUSH, WHEN HE FINDS IT, HE WON'T BE ABLE TO USE IT ANYMORE. ONE THING WE WANT TO DO IS PROTECT ALL OF OUR FRESH PAINT. SO ALONG THE ROCKER AND BED SIDE I'M LAYING DOWN INCH AND A HALF TAPE. TAPE IS CHEAP, SO IT'S SAFE INSURANCE. LT HELP ME GRAB THIS DOOR.
(LT)>> I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE YOU BROKE MY PAINT BRUSH. THE GUY AT THE HARDWARE STORE TOLD ME THAT WOULD LAY DOWN PAINT SMOOTHER THAN A SPRAY GUN.
(JEREMY)>> WAS HE TALKING ABOUT HOUSES MAYBE?
(LT)>> CABINETS.
(JEREMY)>> ON A KFIVE BLAZER.
(LT)>> HEY MAN, DON'T KNOCK IT UNTIL YOU TRY IT.
(JEREMY)>> WE CAN START BY MOUNTING THE PASSENGER DOOR. SIX BOLTS HOLD IT IN PLACE, AND WE'LL START BY PUTTING THE DOOR IN THE CENTER OF ITS ADJUSTMENT. DO A QUICK TEST TO CHECK THE GAPS AND OUR DOOR IS GOOD TO GO.
NEXT THE CORE SUPPORT HAS TO GO ON BEFORE THE FENDER CAN BE MOUNTED. GRAB THAT SIR FOR ME IF YOU WOULD.
(LT)>> ALL RIGHT, MINE'S IN. YOURS IN YET?
(JEREMY)>> THE WASHER GOES OVER THE BUSHING, FOLLOWED BY THE NUT, AND WE CAN SNUG IT DOWN.
[ drill spinning ]
(JEREMY)>> NOW WE CAN SET THE PASSENGER FENDER IN PLACE. HEY!
(LT)>> WHAT?
(JEREMY)>> I'LL TAKE ALL THE, PAINTED END HERE.
(LT)>> GOOD IDEA. HEY I CAN ALWAYS TOUCH IT UP. I HAVE A REALLY GOOD PAINT BRUSH.
(JEREMY)>> LINE IT UP AND A FEW BOLTS SECURE IT.
ALL RIGHT, SO WE'VE GOT THE DOOR AND THE FENDER HUNG ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AND EVERYTHING'S LOOKING REALLY GOOD. NOW YOU'LL REMEMBER WHEN WE PAINTED THIS BLAZER I SHOWED YOU HOW TO PAINT ALL THE PANELS APART BUT STILL MAKE A METALLIC PAINT JOB MATCH, AND CHECK THIS OUT. IT MATCHES 100 PERCENT. YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW THIS TRUCK WAS PAINTED APART. NOW ANOTHER THING YOU'LL REMEMBER IS AWHILE BACK WE HUNG ALL OF THE PANELS, GAPPED IT OUT, DID ALL OF OUR METAL WORK, AND ALL OF OUR BODY WORK. NOW THE REASON WE DID THAT IS BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE TO SCRATCH ANY OF THIS NICE BLUE PAINT. IT ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO HANG THE PARTS BACK TOGETHER, AND WE'VE GOT PERFECT GAPS.
(LT)>> GOT THE BALANCE OF IT?
(JEREMY)>> ON THE DRIVER DOOR THE SAME STEPS APPLY. WE'RE STARTING WITH THE DOOR IN THE CENTER OF ITS ADJUSTMENT, BUT AFTER A QUICK TEST... TILT THE TOP OUT. ...IT'S A BIT TIGHT AT THE APILLAR. SO WE CAN LOOSEN UP THE BOLTS, MAKE THE NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS, AND THEN IT'S RIGHT ON THE MONEY. NOW WE CAN MOUNT THE DRIVER FENDER TO FINISH UP THIS SIDE OF THE TRUCK.
(LT)>> WE HAVE THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK ASSEMBLED BUT WE LEFT OUT THE INNER FENDER WELLS AND THE HOOD BECAUSE WE HAVE A LOT OF PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK TO DO LATER ON, AND THAT STUFF WOULD JUST GET IN OUR WAY. BUT SINCE THE CORE SUPPORT IS ON THE TRUCK WE CAN WORK ON THE COOLING SYSTEM. ORIGINALLY OUR BLAZER WAS EQUIPPED WITH A SMALL BLOCK AND A TINY RADIATOR. NOW WE HAVE A SUPERCHARGED BIG BLOCK AND IT'S GONNA BE MAKING A LOT MORE HEAT THAN THE STOCK RADIATOR COULD SAFELY PULL OUT OF THE ENGINE. SO WE NEEDED TO UPGRADE AND WE WENT TO BROTHERS TRUCKS. THIS IS THEIR FOUR ROW ALUMINUM RADIATOR. NOW IT'S HAND WELDED AND MADE FROM AIRCRAFT QUALITY ALUMINUM, AND THE NICE THING ABOUT A 100 PERCENT SEAM WELDED RADIATOR IS THERE'S NO EPOXY THAT COULD DRY UP AND CAUSE LEAKS DOWN THE ROAD. PLUS THIS ONE HAS A BUILT IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COOLER TO HELP KEEP THAT FOURL-80 RUNNING STRONG. WE ALSO GRABBED THEIR ELECTRIC FAN SHROUD KIT. IT COMES WITH TWO 14 INCH FANS THAT'LL FLOW A TOTAL OF 2,400 CFM OF AIR, AND IT COMES WITH A WIRING KIT THAT'LL MAKE EVERYTHING WORK AND COME ON AT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE, AND IT HAS AN ALUMINUM SHROUD THAT'LL BOLT RIGHT ON TO THEIR RADIATOR, SAFELY MOUNTING UP THE FANS.
(NARRATOR)>> NEXT, BETTER THAN NEW.
(JEREMY)>> HEY WELCOME BACK. WE'RE MAKING REALLY GOOD PROGRESS ON OUR BLAZER. WE'VE GOT BOTH DOORS AND BOTH FENDERS ON THE TRUCK AND ALIGNED. LT'S UP FRONT WORKING ON THE COOLING SYSTEM AND BUTTONING UP SOME THINGS UNDER THE HOOD. SO THE NEXT THING FOR US IS TO TACKLE SOME OF THIS INTERIOR. NOW IF YOU REMEMBER, THE INSIDE OF THIS '89 KFIVE BLAZER WAS QUITE DATED. NOT ONLY WAS IT OLD, WORN OUT, AND DIRTY, THE FADED BLUE WOULDN'T REALLY GO ALONG WITH OUR NEW PAINT JOB AND THE SCHEME OF OUR TRUCK NOW. PLUS THOSE NASTY SEATS WERE LIKE SITTING ON YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S OLD COUCH. SO WE WENT OVER TO BROTHERS TRUCKS AND PICKED UP A FEW NEW PARTS. WE GRABBED EVERYTHING FROM SEAT BELTS FOR BUCKET SEATS, SUN VISORS WITH HARDWARE, ARMREST PADS, A DASH PAD, AND DOOR PANELS, ALL BLACK IN COLOR. NOW THIS'LL BREAK UP A LOT OF THAT BLUE WE'VE GOT GOING ON BUT ALSO GO ALONG WITH SOME OF THOSE BLACK ACCENTS, LIKE OUR POWDER COATED FRAME, BLACK VALVE COVERS, AND RADIATOR SUPPORT. NOW WE ALSO PICKED UP A NEW SET OF ANALOG STYLE GAUGES. NOW THESE FEATURE A TACHOMETER, A SPEEDO, AND ALL THE GAUGES WE NEED TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON ALL OF OUR ENGINE'S VITALS. NOW REMEMBER, WE WANT TO GO SIMPLE WITH THE INTERIOR IN THIS TRUCK. SO WE'RE NOT GONNA RUN ANY CARPET. ALTHOUGH BROTHERS DOES OFFER A HUGE VARIETY FOR THIS TRUCK, BUT WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO JUST WASH OUT THE MUD. SO WE'RE GONNA GET STARTED BY INSTALLING THE GAUGES.
A FEW SCREWS SECURE OUR NEW GAUGES INTO THE DASH. THEN I TRANSFERRED THE MOUNTING CLIPS, VENTS, AND TRIM FROM THE OLD DASH PAD ONTO THE NEW ONE, AND WE CAN PUT IT INTO PLACE, AND POP IT IN, FOLLOWED BY INSTALLING THE ORIGINAL GAUGE CLUSTER. NOW WE DIDN'T PUT IN A NEW ONE BECAUSE WE WANT TO DO SOMETHING TO KEEP A LITTLE BIT OF THAT '90'S NOSTALGIA. SO WE'RE INSTALLING THE BILLET COVER THAT WAS ON THE BLAZER WHEN WE PURCHASED IT.
(LT)>> WELL THERE YOU GO. THAT REALLY GIVES YOU A GOOD IDEA OF HOW THE BLACK AND BLUE INTERIOR'S GONNA LOOK, AND I THINK IT'S LOOKING GREAT. NOW OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE TO PUT THE VENT WINDOWS IN, AND THE DOOR GLASS, AND THE MECHANISMS, AND ALL THAT, AND WHEN WE WIRE THE TRUCK WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THOSE GAUGES AS WELL, BUT WE ARE WELL ON OUR WAY TO MAKING THIS BLAZER GREAT AGAIN.
(JEREMY)>> WE TOSSED THE ORIGINAL SEATS THAT WERE IN THE KFIVE IN THE DUMP, AND WE PLAN TO INSTALL NEW BUCKET SEATS, STARTING WITH THE BRACKETS. I'LL CENTER UP THE BRACKET ON THE FLOOR, AND THEN MARK THE FOUR HOLES. USING A STEP BIT, I CAN DRILL THEM OUT TO ACCEPT THE HALF INCH BOLTS. THE SEATS WE PLAN TO RUN IN OUR KFIVE ARE THESE CORBO BAJA JP SUSPENSION SEATS WE GOT FROM SUMMIT RACING. NOW THESE ARE GREAT FOR OFF ROAD RIGS LIKE OURS BECAUSE THEY TAKE ALL OF THE ABUSE OUT ON THE TRAIL INSTEAD OF YOUR BODY TAKING IT. NOW THE REASON FOR THIS IS THE MILITARY SUSPENSION CORDS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT, AS OPPOSED TO THE OLD SPRING STYLE THAT WE ALL KNOW AREN'T THAT COMFORTABLE. NOW THESE ARE BUILT WITH HEAVY DUTY STEEL FRAMES AND THEY ALREADY COME WITH CUTOUTS IN CASE YOU PLAN TO RUN A HARNESS. NOW WE CHOSE THE BLACK VINYL WITH BLACK CLOTH INSERTS TO MATCH EVERYTHING ELSE.
I CAN START BY BOLTING THE BRACKETS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT, AND THEN WE CAN MOVE OVER TO THE TRUCK AND BOLT OUR NEW SEATS INTO PLACE. [ drill spinning ]
(JEREMY)>> NOW THIS IS A VAST IMPROVEMENT AND CERTAINLY CHANGES THE LOOKS IN OUR BLAZER.
(LT)>> THE FIRST THING TO DO ON THE RADIATOR IS TO ATTACH THE FANS TO THE SHROUD. WHILE THE FANS ALONE MOVE PLENTY OF AIR, THE SHROUD'S JOB IS TO ALLOW THE FANS TO PULL FROM THE ENTIRE SURFACE AREA OF THE RADIATOR RATHER THAN JUST A CIRCULAR AREA BEHIND THE FAN, MAKING COOLING MUCH MORE EFFICIENT. WITH THE FANS ATTACHED THE SHROUD FITS TIGHTLY OVER THE RADIATOR AND GETS SCREWED TO THE TOP AND BOTTOM HOLDING IT IN PLACE. THEN THE RUBBER ISOLATORS GO DOWN AND THE WHOLE PACKAGE DROPS INTO THE CORE SUPPORT, AND THE FACTORY CLAMPS HOLD IT IN PLACE. [ drill spinning ]
(LT)>> AND SINCE OUR TRANSMISSION IS A NONLOCK UP UNIT WITH A HIGH STALL SPEED WE'RE USING AN OVERSIZED EARL'S 34 ROW OIL COOLER TO PULL HEAT AWAY FROM THE TRANS, KEEPING THE FLUID AT A COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURE.
(NARRATOR)>> AHEAD EVERYBODY PITCHES IN TO GET OUR PARTS READY FOR PAINT!
(LT)>> WE'RE GONNA PUT THE BLAZER ASIDE JUST FOR A LITTLE BIT AND TURN OUR ATTENTION TO THE RAM. WE WANT TO DRESS UP HOW IT LOOKS. SO WE PICKED UP A NEW SET OF FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS, AS WELL AS A HEADACHE RACK. THESE ALL COME FROM ROAD ARMOR, AND THEY'RE PART OF THEIR IDENTITY SERIES. IT'S A HEAVY DUTY THREESIXTEENTHS BUMPER THAT HAS A VERY STYLISH LOOK TO IT, AND THEY'LL HOLD UP OFF ROAD IF WE EVER DECIDE TO TAKE THIS THING THROUGH THE WOODS. THEY'VE GOT HEAVY DUTY RECOVERY POINTS FOR A DRING MOUNT, AND PLENTY OF SPOTS TO MOUNT SOME LIGHTING.
(JEREMY)>> YEAH THESE BUMPERS ARE DEFINITELY GONNA BEEF UP THE LOOKS OF OUR 3,500 PICK UP TRUCK. NOW OBVIOUSLY THESE SHIPPED TO US IN BARE METAL, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO REFINISHING THESE THERE ARE A TON OF OPTIONS OUT THERE. WE CAN TAKE THEM TO A POWDER COATER AND GET PRETTY MUCH ANY COLOR UNDER THE SUN, BUT WE WANT TO GO BODY COLOR, AND IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO HAVE A POWDER COATER MATCH THAT COLOR EXACT. SO THAT MEANS TODAY WE'RE GONNA DO A LITTLE PAINT WORK, AND WE'LL GET STARTED BY PREPPING THESE PARTS.
USING A WAX AND GREASE REMOVER WE CAN GET THE PARTS CLEAN. NOW SINCE THESE PARTS WERE SHIPPED TO US IN BARE METAL, ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS WE NEED TO DO IS GET THEM COATED BECAUSE IF THEY WERE TO SIT, LET'S SAY MORE THAN A DAY OR TWO, THEY WOULD START TO FLASH RUST. THEN YOU'D HAVE TO RESAND BLAST THEM OR DA THEM BACK DOWN, AND YOU DON'T WANT TO SPEND ALL THE TIME ON THAT. SO IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT WE GET A GOOD GROUND COAT, AND WE'RE GONNA USE AN EPOXY PRIMER FOR THAT. IT'S A GREAT FOUNDATION TO WORK OFF OF BUT IT'S ALSO CORROSION RESISTANT. SO IT'LL PROTECT AGAINST ANY OF THAT KIND OF STUFF IN THE FUTURE. NOW THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP BECAUSE MOST HIGH BUILD PRIMERS YOU CAN'T LAY DIRECTLY OVER BARE METAL. SO NOT ONLY IS THIS EPOXY LAID DOWN FOR PROTECTION, BUT IT'S A NECESSARY STEP, TAKING ONLY ONE COAT. NOW NORMALLY WHEN YOU GUYS SEE ME LAY DOWN A HIGH BUILD PRIMER ON PARTS LIKE THIS I'M USING A POLYESTER, WHICH HAS REALLY HIGH BUILD CAPABILITIES, BUT SINCE WE'RE WORKING WITH SOME REALLY GOOD QUALITY PARTS HERE WE'RE GONNA BE LAYING DOWN A URETHANE. THE URETHANE PRIMER MIXES FOUR TO ONE WITH AN ACTIVATOR, AND WE'LL BE LAYING DOWN THREE WET COATS. THIS PRIMER HAS GOOD BUILD CAPABILITIES, WHICH WILL HELP REMOVE ANY IMPERFECTIONS. WE'LL LET THAT SIT OVERNIGHT.
THE FIRST STEP BEFORE SANDING IS TO LAY DOWN A GUIDE COAT. THEN WITH 400 GRIT PAPER, A BLOCK, AND A LITTLE WATER WE CAN GET THESE PARTS SLICKED OUT.
(LT)>> YOU KNOW WHY WE WORK SO WELL TOGETHER JEREMY?
(JEREMY)>> TELL ME, I WANT TO HEAR IT.
(LT)>> I THINK IT'S BECAUSE WE'RE SO DIFFERENT. YOU CAN DO THIS STUFF THAT NOBODY ENJOYS, LIKE BODY WORK, AND THAT MAKES ME HAPPY, AND I CAN DO ALL THE STUFF YOU DON'T ENJOY, LIKE WORKING ON COOL STUFF, AND THAT MAKES HIM HAPPY.
(JEREMY)>> YOU KNOW, HE SHOULD THANK ME. HE'S NOT IN THERE HAVING TO BOLT ON GREASY PARTS. ENGINES ARE TORN APART. DO WE HAVE ANYTHING THAT RUNS RIGHT NOW?
(LT)>> NOTHING!
(JEREMY)>> WE CAN'T EVEN DRIVE ANYTHING.
(LT)>> LOOK THERE'S A REASON WHY ALL BODY MEN OVER 50 ARE LIKE CRAZY IN THE HEAD. IT'S ALL THIS DUST AND STUFF. IT MESSES WITH YOUR BRAIN.
(JEREMY)>> WE'RE WET SANDING LT.
(JEREMY)>> WE HAD TO TRICK A FEW COWORKERS TO GET ALL THE PARTS IN THE BOOTH. NOW WE CAN DO ONE FINAL WIPE DOWN. USING THE SAME EPOXY PRIMER WE USED TO SPRAY THESE PARTS IN BARE METAL, WE ARE ALSO USING A SEAL BEFORE PAINT. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE HERE IS WE MIXED IN A HALF PART OF REDUCER. ONCE AGAIN ALL WE NEED IS ONE COAT. THE FACTORY COLOR ON OUR RAM IS CALLED MAXIMUM STEEL. SO WE HAD OUR FAVORITE PAINT SUPPLIER, SINGLE SOURCE IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, MIX US UP A HALF GALLON FOR OUR BUMPERS, AND I'M LAYING DOWN THREE MEDIUM COATS MAKING SURE TO GET ALL THE PARTS COVERED. FINALLY WE CAN LAY DOWN THREE WET COATS OF CLEAR. WE'LL LET THESE PARTS SIT OVERNIGHT TO CURE AND THEN GET THEM ON THE TRUCK.
(NARRATOR)>> NEXT, THESE WILL PUT THE BRO IN OUR BRO TRUCK.
(LT)>> FRESH OUT OF THE PAINT BOOTH, OUR ROAD ARMOR IDENTITY BUMPERS GO TOGETHER BY MOUNTING THE LIGHT BRACKETS TO THE END CAPS. THEN BOLTING THE THREE SECTIONS OF THE BUMPER TOGETHER. WE HAD ALL THE SMALLER BRACKETS AND MESH GRILLS POWDER COATED AT ADVANCE PLATING IN NASHVILLE, WITH A FEW ILLUSION CHERRY ACCENTS. THESE BUMPERS WILL ACCEPT A WIDE RANGE OF LIGHTS, WHICH WE'LL INSTALL LATER ON.
(JEREMY)>> OH YEAH! WITH THE STOCK FRONT BUMPER OUT OF THE WAY, THE MAIN BRACKETS FIRST ATTACH TO THE FRAME RAILS. THEN THE BUMPERS CAN ATTACH TO THE TRUCK WITH A FEW FRIENDS HELPING.
(LT)>> THE REAR BUMPERS GET ASSEMBLED JUST LIKE THE FRONTS, AND WE'LL INSTALL THE SPECIAL MOUNTING BOLTS WITH A RETAINING RING. THEN THE BRACKETS CAN INSTALL TO THE FRAME.
(JEREMY)>> WE CAN FINISH UP THE REAR WITH A MESH GRILL AND SHACKLE. THIS MEAN LOOKING HEADACHE RACK WILL REALLY SET THIS TRUCK OFF.
(LT)>> THE ROAD ARMOR BUMPERS HAVE COMPLETELY TRANSFORMED THE LOOK OF THE TRUCK, AND BY COLOR MATCHING THEM WE KEPT THEM KIND OF LOW KEY. A BIT OF AN OXYMORON.
IMPROVING YOUR VEHICLE'S STOPPING ABILITY IS AN IMPORTANT UPGRADE THAT GOES ALONG WITH ADDING HORSEPOWER AND HEAVIER WHEELS AND TIRES. EBC BRAKES OFFERS A WIDE RANGE OF HIGH PERFORMANCE ROTORS AND PADS THAT FIT MANY DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS, BUT HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW BRAKE PADS ARE MADE? OUR CREW LUCKILY HAD THE CHANCE TO TRAVEL OVER TO THE UK, VISIT EBC, AND SEE FIRST HAND HOW THESE PADS ARE MADE, AND IT ALL STARTS BY MIXING UP THE INGREDIENTS FOR THE FRICTION MATERIAL. THE PROCESS STARTS WITH WEIGHING OUT THE VARIOUS INGREDIENTS. EACH SPECIFIC COLOR OF BRAKE PAD HAS DIFFERENT RATIOS OF THE INGREDIENTS TO GIVE IT ITS CHARACTERISTICS, LIKE HEAT RESISTANCE, DURABILITY, AND OVERALL LEVEL OF STOPPING POWER. ONCE THE INGREDIENTS ARE MIXED TOGETHER...
...THEY ARE PRESSED INTO A MOLD, WHICH MATCHES THE SHAPE OF THE VEHICLE'S APPLICATION. THE BACKING PLATES START OUT AS LARGE COILS OF STEEL, WHICH GET LOADED INTO A PUNCH PRESS, WHICH QUICKLY STAMPS OUT THE SHAPE OF THE PLATE.
THE NEXT STEP IS TO HAVE A TEXTURE PRESSED INTO THE BACKING PLATE, WHICH HELPS THE FRICTION MATERIAL BOND WITH THE BACKING PLATE.
THE LAST STEP FOR THE BACKING PLATES IS TO SPRAY ON A QUICK COAT OF ADHESIVE.
NOW IT'S TIME TO JOIN THE BACKING PLATES TO THE FRICTION MATERIAL, AND THAT HAPPENS IN THIS MACHINE, WHICH APPLIES HEAT AND PRESSURE TO BOND THE TWO TOGETHER.
THEN THE PADS GET POPPED OUT OF THE PRESS MOLD AND MAKE THEIR WAY TO AN OVEN WHERE THEY'LL CURE. THE CURED BRAKE PADS ARE THEN GROUND TO THEIR FINAL HEIGHT. THEN THEY CONTINUE ALONG THE PRODUCTION LINE WHERE A GROOVE IS CUT DOWN THE MIDDLE. ONE MORE TRIP DOWN THE CONVEYER AND THEY'LL RECEIVE THEIR FINAL COLOR. EBC PADS COME IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT GRADES. EACH HAS ITS OWN SPECIFIC COLOR. EACH PAD IS BAKED...
...COOLED OFF AND LABELED. THEN A BREAK IN COATING IS APPLIED, WHICH WILL HELP THE PADS BURNISH INTO THE ROTOR. AT THIS POINT THE PADS ARE LABELED ONE MORE TIME, GET STACKED UP, AND WILL AWAIT FINAL PACKAGING.
AND BEFORE THEY GET SHIPPED TO PART STORES WORLD WIDE EBC THOROUGHLY TESTS ALL OF ITS BRAKING COMPOUNDS TO ENSURE PERFORMANCE EVEN UNDER THE HARSHEST CONDITIONS.
WHEN YOU IMPROVE THE STOPPING POWER OF YOUR CAR, TRUCK, OR SUV WITH EBC BRAKES NOW YOU'LL KNOW EXACTLY HOW THE PADS ARE MADE.
(JEREMY)>> FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR AN ALL TERRAIN TIRE THAT PROVIDES BOTH OFF ROAD CAPABILITIES AND IMPRESSIVE ON ROAD PERFORMANCE THIS IS THE GRABBER ATX BY GENERAL TIRE. (LT)>> PERMATEX HAS TAKEN SEALING PERFORMANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH THEIR OPTIMUM LINE OF GASKET MAKERS. OPTIMUM GRAY WITHSTANDS TEMPERATURES UP TO 700 DEGREES, AND IS PERFECT IN HIGH VIBRATION ENVIRONMENTS AND IS COMMONLY USED IN LATE MODEL AND IMPORT ENGINES. OPTIMUM BLACK COMBINES HIGH FLEXIBILITY AND MAXIMUM OIL RESISTANCE, AND IT WORKS WELL STICKING TOGETHER UNLIKE MATERIALS LIKE PLASTIC TO ALUMINUM. BOTH COME WITH AN EXTRA NOZZLE FOR ADDED CONVENIENCE, AND PERMATEX PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE AT YOUR FAVORITE AUTOMOTIVE RETAILER.
(JEREMY)>> WELL WITH THE FEW THINGS THAT WE'VE DONE TO THIS TRUCK TODAY WE'VE DEFINITELY TRANSFORMED THE LOOKS BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET. WE'VE STILL GOT A LIFT KIT TO PUT ON, HUGE WHEELS AND TIRES, AND A TON OF LIGHTS TO GO IN THESE BUMPERS. SO IT MAY BE HARD TO SEE OUR VISION RIGHT NOW BUT SOON YOU'LL SEE WHAT WE'RE GOING FOR.
(LT)>> AND THIS TRUCK ISN'T JUST GONNA BE ABOUT ITS GOOD LOOKS. THIS IS A HIGH PERFORMANCE DIESEL TRUCK AT ITS HEART. WE HAVE A LOT OF FUEL SYSTEM PARTS THAT HAVE ARRIVED, AND CHECK OUT WHAT JUST SHOWED UP. THIS IS A REV MAX AS-69, AND THIS THING IS GONNA HOLD A TON OF POWER SO WE CAN REALLY MAKE THE MOST OUT OF THAT CUMMINS.
(JEREMY)>> SO THANKS FOR WATCHING TRUCK TECH, AND TO SEE ANYTHING ELSE WE'RE DOING HERE IN OUR SHOP CHECK OUT POWERNATION TV DOT COM.

(NARRATOR)>> NEXT, BETTER THAN NEW.
(JEREMY)>> HEY WELCOME BACK. WE'RE MAKING REALLY GOOD PROGRESS ON OUR BLAZER. WE'VE GOT BOTH DOORS AND BOTH FENDERS ON THE TRUCK AND ALIGNED.
