LOOKS AND OFF ROAD PERFORMANCE OF YOUR LATE MODEL DAILY DRIVEN JEEP. THIS IS JKS MANUFACTURING'S JSPEC THREE AND A HALF INCH SUSPENSION SYSTEM, AND AT THE HEART OF IT ARE THESE DUAL RATE LIFT COILS.
TO KEEP THE SPRINGS UNDER CONTROL JKS INCLUDES THESE FOX TWO POINT ZERO HIGH PERFORMANCE SHOCKS THAT'LL PERFORM FLAWLESSLY EVEN UNDER THE HARSHEST OPERATING CONDITIONS. TO CORRECT FOR ANY GEOMETRY CHANGES IN THE FRONT JKS PROVIDES US ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR. THE KIT ALSO INCLUDES ANY NECESSARY BRACKETS AND BUMP STOP RELOCATORS. WHEN YOU NEED JUST A LITTLE MORE ARTICULATION JKS PROVIDES THESE SWAY BAR QUICKER DISCONNECTS, AND WE'RE GONNA START BY INSTALLING THE FRONT SUSPENSION.
(JEREMY)>> WITH THE JEEP LIFTED IN THE AIR, WE CAN SEE THIS LIFT WILL INSTALL PRETTY QUICKLY. ONCE WE TAKE OFF THE WHEELS, THE TRACK BAR IS THE FIRST PART TO GO. NEXT DISCONNECT THE BRAKE LINE BRACKET FROM THE FRAME BUT DO NOT DISCONNECT THE ACTUAL LINE. THEN TAKE OFF THE SWAY BAR END LINKS AND TOSS THEM.
(LT)>> TEMPORARILY DISCONNECT THE FRONT
DRIVESHAFT AND TIE IT UP OUT OF THE WAY DURING THE INSTALLATION. AS ANOTHER SAFETY PRECAUTION DISCONNECT THE STEERING DRAG LINK.
IF THE AXLE DROPS TOO FAR WHEN INSTALLING THE
SPRINGS, EITHER OF THESE COULD BEND TOO FAR OUTSIDE THEIR NORMAL RANGE OF TRAVEL AND GET DAMAGED. WITH JACK STANDS SUPPORTING THE AXLE, DISCONNECT AND REMOVE THE SHOCKS. SLOWLY LOWER THE AXLE MAKING SURE NOT TO STRETCH WIRES OR HOSES, AND REMOVE THE COIL SPRINGS. MAN THOSE ARE LIGHT. TAKE A FRONT BUMP STOP EXTENSION AND SET IT INTO PLACE ON THE SPRING PAD. USE A CENTER PUNCH TO MARK FOR A HOLE, DRILL IT OUT, AND RUN IN THE SUPPLIED SELF TAPPING BOLT TO CUT THREADS.
(JEREMY)>> NOW THE SPRINGS ARE WHAT ACTUALLY PROVIDE THE LIFT IN THIS KIT. NOW THESE JSPEC DUAL RATE SPRINGS WILL PROVIDE THE
BEST PERFORMANCE IN ANY SITUATION. SO WHETHER YOU'RE LOADED DOWN WITH GEAR AND YOU'RE BLASTING THROUGH THE TRAIL OR YOU'RE JUST RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD HEADED TO WORK, THESE JSPEC SPRINGS WILL PROVIDE A VERY COMFORTABLE RIDE AND HANDLE PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING YOU CAN THROW AT THEM. NOW THE FIRST THING WE NEED TO DO IS GO AHEAD AND INSTALL THE BUMP STOP EXTENSION INSIDE THE COIL SPRINGS. NOW IF WE WERE TO GO AHEAD AND BOLT IT IN, WELL WE'D
NEVER BE ABLE TO SLIDE THE SPRING OVER THE TOP OF IT.
THERE WE GO!
(LT)>> WITH THE BOLTS TIGHTENED UP FOR THE BUMP STOP EXTENSION, RAISE THE AXLE A LITTLE BIT MAKING SURE THE SPRING SITS PROPERLY IN ITS NEW HOME. INSTALL THE NEW FOX SHOCKS WITH THE FACTORY LOWER HARDWARE. THEN TIGHTEN EVERYTHING UP.
(JEREMY)>> THESE TAPERED MOUNTING STUDS WILL INSTALL ON THE END OF THE SWAY BAR. THE INSTRUCTIONS CALL FOR THE HOLES TO BE MOUNTED HORIZONTALLY. DO THE SAME THING AT THE AXLE. ADJUST THE LINK OF THE QUICKER DISCONNECT TO NINE INCHES CENTER TO CENTER, AND THEN SLIDE THE END LINK OVER THE TWO MOUNTING STUDS.
(LT)>> WE'LL NOW THROW IN THE FRONT ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR USING A RATCHET STRAP TO ALIGN THE AXLE. THE LINK CAN BE FINE TUNED LATER IF THE AXLE IS OFF CENTER.
(JEREMY)>> THE LAST THING TO INSTALL IS THE BRAKE LINE RELOCATION BRACKET. THIS WAY YOU WANT DAMAGE THE BRAKE LINE WITH THE NEW LIFT.
(LT)>> THIS JKS THREE AND A HALF INCH LIFT KIT IS A GREAT OVERALL SYSTEM AND IT'S DESIGNED TO WORK WITH UP TO A 35 INCH TALL TIRE. IT'S PERFECTLY ENGINEERED AND COMES WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO INSTALL IT. WE'RE ONLY HALF WAY DONE AND IT SHOULD TAKE YOU FIVE TO SIX HOURS. WE'VE ELECTED TO RUN A 33 INCH ALL TERRAIN STREET TIRE SO JEREMY CAN HEAR THAT STEREO, AND WE'LL TELL YOU MORE ABOUT THESE COMING UP.

(JEREMY)>> WE'RE BACK ON TRUCK TECH LIFTING UP OUR 2009 JK. WE'VE MOVED TO THE REAR OF THE JEEP AND WE'LL BEGIN BY REMOVING THE TIRES, FOLLOWED BY THE REAR TRACK BAR AT THE AXLE END ONLY.
(LT)>> REMOVE THE WIRES FOR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FROM THE FRAME TO GAIN SOME SLACK.
JUST LIKE UP FRONT, WE NEED TO USE SOME JACK STANDS TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE REAR AXLE. UNBOLT THE SHOCKS AT TOP AND BOTTOM, DISCARD THEM BUT SAVE THE HARDWARE. THE SWAY BAR END LINKS HAVE TO BE DISCONNECTED AT THE AXLE, AND THOSE WILL BE RELOCATED LATER.
WE'RE JUST ABOUT READY TO LOWER THE AXLE DOWN AND RELEASE THE COIL SPRINGS TO SWAP THEM OUT WITH THE NEW LIFT ONES, BUT BEFORE WE DROP THE AXLE DOWN A FEW INCHES WE NEED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING'S OUT OF THE WAY SO WE DON'T DAMAGE IT. WE'VE GOT THE BRAKE LINES RELEASED AT THE FRAME SO THEY DON'T STRETCH OR TEAR, THE ABS WHEEL
SPEED SENSOR LINES HAVE BEEN MOVED OUT OF THE WAY, AND LASTLY WE ALREADY GOT THE PARKING BRAKE REMOVED FROM THE FLOOR OF THE JEEP. THERE'S ONE LAST THING I'VE GOT TO PULL OFF AND THAT'S THE VENT TUBE FOR THE AXLE. NOW WE CAN LOWER IT DOWN AND GET THE SPRINGS OUT OF THE WAY.
SIDE BY SIDE YOU CAN SEE WHERE THIS JKS KIT GETS ITS LIFT.
THE SWAY BAR MOUNT NEEDS TO MOVE. SO WE'LL MARK WITH A CENTER PUNCH ONE AND A QUARTER INCHES HIGHER. THEN DRILL THEM OUT. TOUCH UP THE BARE METAL TO PREVENT RUST, AND REATTACH THE SWAY BAR LINK. THE TWO INCH BUMP STOP SPACERS GET INSTALLED WITH NEW FIVESIXTEENTHS HARDWARE.
(JEREMY)>> EVERY TIME YOUR AXLE MOVES UP AND DOWN, THE SHOCK IS THERE IS TO PREVENT IT FROM CYCLING BACK AND FORTH UNCONTROLLED. NOW THE HEAVIER YOUR VEHICLE IS AND THE HARDER YOU USE IT, THE STRONGER YOUR SHOCKS NEED TO BE.
(LT)>> THE JKS JSPEC KIT COMES WITH FOX TWO POINT ZERO SHOCKS ON ALL FOUR CORNERS. SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU'D FIND ON THE F-150 RAPTOR. SO WE KNOW THEY'RE GONNA WORK PERFECTLY ON
OUR DUAL PURPOSE JK.
(LT)>> GET OUT OF THERE.
INSTALL THE TRACK BAR RELOCATOR ON THE REAR AXLE WITH THE FACTORY BOLT GOING THROUGH THIS SPACER.
SWING UP THE SPACER TAB, AND BOLT IT TO THE RELOCATOR BRACKET WITH PROVIDED THREEEIGHTHS INCH HARDWARE. USING THE PROVIDE UBOLT, FASTEN THE TRACK BAR BRACKET TO THE AXLE. THEN FULLY TIGHTEN ALL THE BOLTS.
WITH THE REAR BRAKE LINES LOWERED, MOUNT THEM TO THE NEW DROP BRACKETS. ATTACH THE TRACK BAR USING NEW HARDWARE, AND THE LIFT KIT IS COMPLETE.
(JEREMY)>> NOW JKS ENGINEERS THEIR LIFT KITS AS AN EASY BOLT ON. SO AS YOU CAN SEE THERE'S NO CUTTING REQUIRED AND WE ONLY HAD TO DRILL A FEW HOLES. SO WHETHER YOU CHOOSE THEIR TWO AND A HALF OR THREE AND A HALF INCH SYSTEM, YOU CAN EASILY INSTALL THIS KIT IN AN AFTERNOON WITH JUST A FEW SIMPLE HAND TOOLS.

THESE BAD BOYS ARE DEFINITELY HEAVIER, AND THEY WEIGH IN AT 92 POUNDS. THAT'S A 50 PERCENT INCREASE IN ROTATIONAL MASS, AND YOU CAN IMAGE WITH THE FOUR NEW TIRES WEIGHING AN ADDITIONAL 120 POUNDS, THERE'S A LOT MORE MASS THAT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED WITH THE BRAKES. NOT TO MENTION THE 4,000 POUND JEEP SITTING ON TOP OF THESE. NOW YOU CAN REALLY START TO UNDERSTAND
THE IMPORTANCE OF UPGRADING YOUR BRAKES.
(JEREMY)>> TO SLOW OUR WRANGLER DOWN WE'RE INSTALLING EBC'S GREEN STUFF 7,000 SERIES PERFORMANCE BRAKE PADS. THEY'RE ENGINEERED SPECIFICALLY FOR TRUCKS,
SUV'S, AND FOUR BY FOURS. THE ORGANIC FRICTION MATERIAL IS DESIGNED FOR LOW DUST AND LONGER LIFE.
AND TO COMPLETE OUR BRAKE UPGRADE WE WENT BACK TO EBC AND PICKED UP THEIR USR SLOTTED ROTORS.
THEY'RE MADE OF HIGH QUALITY GRADE IRON, THEY RUN QUIETER, AND AT COOLER TEMPERATURES AND WORK IN TANDEM WITH OUR HIGH FRICTION BRAKE PADS FOR LONGER WEAR. AND WE'LL GET STARTED WITH INSTALLATION UP FRONT.
(LT)>> SOME GUYS THROW ON A THREE AND A HALF INCH LIFT AND A SET OF 33'S OR 35'S WITHOUT CONSIDERING A BRAKE UPGRADE.
WELL THAT'S A BIG MISTAKE. THEY'LL SOON FIND OUT THEIR TRUCK TAKES LONGER TO STOP, NOT TO MENTION THEIR BRAKE PARTS WILL WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. ANOTHER FACTOR IS THE VEHICLE WON'T STOP AS WELL
REPEATEDLY, LIKE IF YOU'RE GOING DOWN A STEEP GRADE AND YOU'RE CONSTANTLY APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE. SURE THE FIRST OR SECOND STOP YOU MIGHT NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE, BUT AS THE STOCK PADS AND ROTORS HEAT UP, WELL THEY'RE JUST NOT GONNA STOP AS WELL. FOR ROLLING STOCK ON OUR JK WE WENT TO MICKEY THOMPSON AND PICKED UP A SET OF THEIR BAJA ATZ PTHREE TIRES. THE TREAD IS A HYBRID DESIGN BETWEEN AN ALL TERRAIN AND A MUD TERRAIN, WHICH MEANS THEY'LL RIDE
SMOOTH QUIETLY DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AND WHEN YOU GET THEM OFF ROAD IN THE DIRT AND THE MUD THEY'LL GET EXCELLENT OFF ROAD TRACTION. THEY'RE A 275/70 18, WHICH FOR THE NONMETRIC GUYS IS A 33. FOR WHEELS WE ALSO WENT TO THE MICKEY THOMPSON CATALOG AND PICKED OUT A SET OF THEIR 18 BY NINE MT METAL SERIES. IT'S AN EIGHT SPOKE DESIGN AND THE MATTE BLACK FINISH
IS GONNA MATCH PERFECTLY WITH THE NEXT PARTS WE'RE GONNA THROW AT THIS JEEP.
(JEREMY)>> TO COMPLETE THE EXTERIOR TRANSFORMATION OF OUR JEEP THOSE STOCK BUMPERS HAVE TO GO, AND WE'RE GONNA BE REPLACING THEM WITH THESE FULL WIDTH TRAIL BUMPERS FROM RUSTY'S OFF ROAD.
THEY'RE MADE FROM THREESIXTEENTHS INCH STEEL, LASER CUT, AND CNC FORMED RIGHT HERE IN THE USA. THEY COME WITH PREINSTALLED DRING MOUNTS, A TAB TO MOUNT A LIGHT BAR, AND THIS BUMPER ALSO ACCEPTS THE JK STOCK FOG LIGHTS. THAT'LL MAKE FOR A REALLY CLEAN OE LOOK. THE FIRST STEP IS TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC SHIELD UNDER THE BUMPER, AND REMOVE THE EIGHT BOLTS HOLDING THE BUMPER IN PLACE. AFTER WE TRANSFERRED THE FOG LIGHTS, WE CAN GET OUR RUSTY'S OFF ROAD TRAIL BUMPER INTO PLACE BY USING THE SUPPLIED HARDWARE. BEFORE TIGHTENING DOWN MAKE SURE THE BUMPER IS CENTERED AND LEVELED. THEN SNUG IT DOWN FOR GOOD. I'LL MAKE SOME TRIM LINES SO WE CAN REUSE THE PLASTIC SHIELD BEFORE CUTTING IT WITH AN AIR SAW. THIS WILL STILL PROVIDE A LITTLE PROTECTION
UNDERNEATH AND IS A LITTLE MORE PLEASING TO THE EYE. ONCE WE REINSTALL IT WITH THE FACTORY CLIPS WE CAN MOVE ON TO THE REAR.
(LT)>> THIS THING'S LIGHTWEIGHT PLASTIC, SO YOU CAN SEE HOW LITTLE PROTECTION IT OFFERED. WE'LL MOCK UP THE NEW BUMPER FIRST, CHECKING THE ALIGNMENT. THEN MARK FOR THE HOLE IN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR FRAME RAIL AND DRILL USING A HALF INCH BIT. THIS NEW BOLT TAB SLIDES INTO THE HOLE
WE JUST DRILLED. THE BUMPER USES THE STOCK HOLES ON THE FRONT AND THIS NEW LONG BOLT WITH A SPACER.

NOW SHE SITS A LITTLE HIGHER THANKS TO OUR JKS THREE AND A HALF INCH LIFT KIT, 33 INCH MICKEY THOMPSON, AND GREATER STOPPING POWER WITH AN EBC BRAKE PACKAGE, BUT WITH THE ADDED WEIGHT OF WHEELS AND TIRES AND BUMPERS WE NEED TO MAKE UP FOR THAT WITH A LITTLE MORE POWER.

WE CAN EXPECT TO GAIN UP TO AN ADDITIONAL 15 HORSEPOWER AND 20 POUNDS OF TORQUE. THAT'LL GET US STARTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. TO COMPLIMENT THE TUNER AND GET SOME MORE POWER OUT OF OUR THREE POINT EIGHT WE ALSO WENT TO SUMMIT RACING AND PICKED UP THIS COLD AIR INTAKE FOR OUR JEEP.
IT FEATURES THIS HIGH FLOW NONOILED AIR FILTER. THE POWER GAINS ARE THANKS IN PART TO THIS LARGER DIAMETER LOW RESTRICTION INLET PIPE. COMPARED TO THE FACTORY ONE IT'S MUCH BIGGER.
TO GET THAT EXHAUST GAS OUT OF THE END OF THE JEEP WE WENT TO BORLA AND PICKED UP THEIR TOURING SERIES CAT BACK EXHAUST. IT'S 100 PERCENT STAINLESS STEEL AND HAS DUAL TIPS THAT MAKE THE BACK END OF THE JEEP LOOK A LOT BETTER. IT'S ALSO GONNA SOUND A LOT BETTER WITHOUT BEING OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD. THAT'S THE BEST PART OF THE TOURING SERIES FROM BORLA. IT ALSO FEATURES THEIR STRAIGHT THROUGH MULTICORE DESIGN THAT KEEPS THE VELOCITY OF THE EXHAUST GASES REALLY HIGH, WHICH AS WE ALL KNOW, INCREASES POWER. OVERALL WE HAVE A PRETTY STOUT PERFORMANCE COMBINATION FOR OUR THREE POINT EIGHT LITER JEEP.
(JEREMY)>> COLD AIR KITS ARE A BREEZE TO INSTALL. WITH THE FACTORY STUFF OUT OF THE WAY, THESE TWO WELD NUTS REPLACE THE FACTORY GROMMETS. THEN THE COOL AIR DAM PANELS ARE SET IN PLACE, FOLLOWED BY THE NEW INTAKE TUBE. THE OPEN DAM AROUND THE NEW FILTER PROVIDES A STEADY FULL FLOW OF COOL OUTSIDE AIR INTO THE ENGINE, WHICH TRANSLATES TO MORE POWER.
(LT)>> MOVING ON TO THE EXHAUST THE FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS IS TO REMOVE THE OLD PARTS. A SAWZALL IS OFTEN THE BEST WAY TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW STUFF. WITH THE RUBBER HANGERS RELEASED, THE MUFFLER
SECTION IS GONE. I'LL CUT THROUGH THE EXHAUST CLAMP SINCE THE

SPRINGS, EITHER OF THESE COULD BEND TOO FAR OUTSIDE THEIR NORMAL RANGE OF TRAVEL AND GET DAMAGED. WITH JACK STANDS SUPPORTING THE AXLE, DISCONNECT AND REMOVE THE SHOCKS. SLOWLY LOWER THE AXLE MAKING SURE NOT TO STRETCH WIRES OR HOSES, AND REMOVE THE COIL SPRINGS. MAN THOSE ARE LIGHT. TAKE A FRONT BUMP STOP EXTENSION AND SET IT INTO PLACE ON THE SPRING PAD. USE A CENTER PUNCH TO MARK FOR A HOLE, DRILL IT OUT, AND RUN IN THE SUPPLIED SELF TAPPING BOLT TO CUT THREADS.

WE'RE JUST ABOUT READY TO LOWER THE AXLE DOWN AND RELEASE THE COIL SPRINGS TO SWAP THEM OUT WITH THE NEW LIFT ONES, BUT BEFORE WE DROP THE AXLE DOWN A FEW INCHES WE NEED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING'S OUT OF THE WAY SO WE DON'T DAMAGE IT. WE'VE GOT THE BRAKE LINES RELEASED AT THE FRAME SO THEY DON'T STRETCH OR TEAR, THE ABS WHEEL
SPEED SENSOR LINES HAVE BEEN MOVED OUT OF THE WAY, AND LASTLY WE ALREADY GOT THE PARKING BRAKE REMOVED FROM THE FLOOR OF THE JEEP. THERE'S ONE LAST THING I'VE GOT TO PULL OFF AND THAT'S THE VENT TUBE FOR THE AXLE. NOW WE CAN LOWER IT DOWN AND GET THE SPRINGS OUT OF THE WAY.
SIDE BY SIDE YOU CAN SEE WHERE THIS JKS KIT GETS ITS LIFT.
THE SWAY BAR MOUNT NEEDS TO MOVE. SO WE'LL MARK WITH A CENTER PUNCH ONE AND A QUARTER INCHES HIGHER. THEN DRILL THEM OUT. TOUCH UP THE BARE METAL TO PREVENT RUST, AND REATTACH THE SWAY BAR LINK. THE TWO INCH BUMP STOP SPACERS GET INSTALLED WITH NEW FIVESIXTEENTHS HARDWARE.

SWING UP THE SPACER TAB, AND BOLT IT TO THE RELOCATOR BRACKET WITH PROVIDED THREEEIGHTHS INCH HARDWARE. USING THE PROVIDE UBOLT, FASTEN THE TRACK BAR BRACKET TO THE AXLE. THEN FULLY TIGHTEN ALL THE BOLTS.
WITH THE REAR BRAKE LINES LOWERED, MOUNT THEM TO THE NEW DROP BRACKETS. ATTACH THE TRACK BAR USING NEW HARDWARE, AND THE LIFT KIT IS COMPLETE.

IT'S 100 PERCENT STAINLESS STEEL AND HAS DUAL TIPS THAT MAKE THE BACK END OF THE JEEP LOOK A LOT BETTER. IT'S ALSO GONNA SOUND A LOT BETTER WITHOUT BEING OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD. THAT'S THE BEST PART OF THE TOURING SERIES FROM BORLA. IT ALSO FEATURES THEIR STRAIGHT THROUGH MULTICORE DESIGN THAT KEEPS THE VELOCITY OF THE EXHAUST GASES REALLY HIGH, WHICH AS WE ALL KNOW, INCREASES POWER.
