Today club, road racing. It's leathers in Las Vegas. A look at the sport of sport bike racing.

Then it's Yamaha's new 600 naked sport, the fast and affordable FZ six

plus Tommy G with our sport bike build up and project of the week.

Hey guys, welcome to T DC. I'm Alan neighbors. Well, get ready for some knee dragging action because today we will check out a road race club known for some serious weekend fun.

It's championship club racing a FM style.

It's the oldest, most prestigious road racing club in America, the American Federation of motorcycles

and at Vegas, their racers were laying down the road.

Thumbs up, baby, I would say on the straightaways here they're probably up to 141 150 miles an hour going down the straightaway in

these and they're going fast with over 20 classes to compete in. If you have a two wheeler, the A FM has a place for you to race it. It's a legal way to go as fast as you can on a motorcycle. And we provide

an environment for somebody to go from,

say, a production bike that they can buy from a dealership, put some body work on it, safety wire, that kind of stuff come out here and race fairly cheap

and just go as fast as they want. They don't have to worry about grandma pulling out in front of them and that kind of stuff and it works out real good.

So

exciting

over the years, the federation has produced its share of pros and their newest rising star is Jeffrey. T

the feeling you get from dragging your knee at 100 and 30 mile an hour around a racetrack. It's, there's not much else that really compares to. I mean, some, some people will go as far as saying it's, you know,

better than sex and drugs and rock and roll. You know, there's really, it's,

it's the highest level adrenaline you can get from, uh,

you know, as close, as close as you can get without really breaking the law. A life of knee dragging was inherited from his father who was a former champion and Daytona winner. You know, that's always a big inspiration. You know, it's like you wanna,

you know, you wanna

kind of do what your dad does, you know. And it's,

there's nothing else like it just for doing a lot better than I am than I ever did though. He's a very skilled rider and I'm really proud of him and it's, it's, it's just marvelous to be your kid's hero. I mean,

it really is

like most road racers once Jeffrey threw a leg over a machine, he was hooked. He said, damn, how could you ever be normal after this? I said, Jeff normal's overrated.

Who'd wanna

be

his new lap record in qualifying? Not only impressed his dad,

it impressed everybody.

And this is what you wanna do in this level of ra racing. You, you wanna be able

to men not only beat him mentally but out there physically on the racetrack. And that's the first step is to get in their heads and go out and try to be the fastest guy. You can all weekend

and it can actually, you know, do a lot of good for you in the, in the overall aspect of the weekend.

A Suzuki Gsxr 1000 has only a few modifications, but Tiger has the edge. He needs to smoke the competition.

First place. We, we wanted him to focus on was the wheels on these, the stock stock wheels from showroom comer 17 inch size and they come with street tires obviously. So these wheels are 16.5 inch which makes them a little bit smaller diameter which allows you to run a wire tire. Obviously, you want about the biggest amount of rubber on the ground as you can. This right here unit is what's called a steering damper. As you can see

it moves as the steering moves,

prevents the bike from kind of wiggling and wobbling when it wants to shake a lot.

That's the only one tool for that. It's, uh, about critical. You almost have to have it on any bike you want to race on the racetrack. And, uh, this aftermarket unit here is, uh, is the shock. You, you don't have much adjustable with the stock unit. It's very limited to what you can do with it. So a lot of times you, you want

basically throw that thing in the trash and fortunately they don't set them up to be able to use it at racing

racing level. This thing's got a lot more adjustable in it.

An exhaust system obviously

end up getting a little bit more power out of the bike and a little bit more free flowing air through the,

through the engine. We're also running a, what's, what's called a whole shot power shift or made by Dale Walker. This, this unit actually allows you to be able to shift your bike without using the clutch or letting off the throttle.

You can virtually hold your bike wide open through 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th gear.

Just by simply lifting this up. There's a sensor inside this barrel that actually cuts the ignition of the bike and it will,

will virtually go through the gears with, with never letting off the throttle

going pretty fast. This, this bike is capable of doing.

I, I would guess at least 100 and 90 miles an hour in the gear depending on how you want to gear it at

the first corner of the formula Pacific race. Tiger ran into some trouble which allowed James Randolph to take the lead.

Still a little waiting game. You got to play, play a patient

so much for patience. He said the fastest lap time which was almost a second better than Randolph. Then Tiger Pounces taking the lead and holding on in the desert heat for the victory. Let the laps wind down until I got a, got a good safe.

I don't want to do anything to jeopardize either of us and

it worked out for the better. I got my head down. My dad is awesome this time with the pit board. Let me know exactly how far I could go and how much I needed to be ahead. And once I got to that comfortable level, I just kind of backed it off a notch and just cruised the last couple of hours.

I think he's got, felt like to go national and, and, and

be a top dog pet nationally. I really do. This is what it's all about right here. It's the best feeling

a

great weekend out at the A FM

prediction.

You'll be hearing a lot more from Jeff Tiger in the future.

Coming up, more asphalt action from Las Vegas

Club racing cultivates future pros, but it's also about grassroots racers having fun.

One of the great things about a FM racing is that you don't have to be a Nicky Hayden or Ben Bostrom to enjoy it. It's just the drive to come out here and push yourself to the limit

as fast as you can go on a bike and see what you can do.

And you get to race with somebody. If you're in first place all the way back to the 30 th place. There's always someone to race with so you can push yourself to those limits. And I think

that

what really drives

for the

race,

there's some neat stuff out here. I don't know if you guys have seen the Buell

that's running. That's a

nice work of art. You know, as far as the work they've done on that thing. It's not by far, it's not anything close to a stock buell

and it's a beautiful

100% American

baby.

This is a very loud machine,

extremely loud,

makes other people lose concentration

if you can't pass them, scare

1200 ccs of fire breathing snorting

thunder.

I like him a lot. It's a push rod Beach win versus the Japanese factories.

Japanese spend a lot of time and

effort to beat this thing.

We're out there giving it the best

against the Japanese factories.

Mr Sean Riley, all American railing with the Jap boys and the European boys and doing very well.

I

thank

God there's no

out here

there weren't any French bikes, but mixing it up were plenty of side hacks. A lot of people equate it to the old military style side car

and that's kind of where it came from and it evolved into this, which is now an 88 inch wheelbase,

uh, 1200 cc, 170 mile an hour side car, three inches off the ground with that kind of power driver and monkey better work together, or they'll end up paying the consequences. You don't want to fall out

and you don't want to crash one of these

three wheels that crass like a football. You don't know where it's going to go.

The drivers in charge of steering, braking, accelerating. And the passenger's job is the attitude of the chest.

It's bent out of shape or the tires lighten up or they start spinning

or you're not braking effectively,

the weight over the tires is critical to make this thing handle. If the passenger is not in the right place at the right time, it handles badly.

The passenger is not there at all. It turns over on its lid. You have to be focused because if I, if I miss my mark, I know we

to get in trouble on the car.

And so I need to be there for him and him being my significant other. I don't want anything happening to him. So

I really

concentrate on

according to Jamie's boyfriend, she likes doing all the right things to travel. Have your significant other, your neck gets sore, you get a little massage

and it's hard for some of the monkeys to get that without getting picked on

all kid. Aside, once these racers are on the track, they're going for one thing. We just totally duke it out.

Um, we try to play fair and clean,

you know, but it's a race

down to the checkered flag. Who's gonna get there first.

Hey, whether it's hacks

mules or whatever. A FM has something for every weekend warrior

up next.

Yamaha's

new Naked Sport that FC Six

high performance at low cost.

That's the concept behind a new class of no frills. Six hundreds.

Check out Yamaha's FZ six.

There's a serious new player in the middleweight class.

It's Yamaha Sporty FZ six and it may be the new benchmark in 600 performance and value.

I think this bike can be the best of both worlds. I think this bike can be

a weekend Canyon Carving Hooligan type motorcycle because it has a lot of performance,

but it's also a really comfortable day to day bike that you can commute on or sport tour on. And it's kind of a, a really well rounded motorcycle

well rounded. It

starts with a forward by a 606 speed.

It's a 16 valve, liquid cooled and line four,

generating 98 crank shaft horsepower at 12,000 RPM.

And it's a compact package.

They were the first company to really stack the transmission where they, they move the input and output shafts

and the crank shaft on the engine all into a more triangulated area so that they can make the motor much more compact.

It worked. The FC Six is a treat to ride in the tight corners and the sweepers,

thanks in part to a sculpted cast aluminum frame that uses the motor as a stressed member.

They've been able to perfect the die casting

to the point where they can put this frame together and not have any welds on the entire frame. So this frame just bolts together and at the head stock and then back at the at

the rear,

also out back, a stainless under seat exhaust and a long extruded swing arm that helps reduce chain pull.

The swing arm can

go through its

range of motion

and not bind up the rear shocks. So this improves the overall handling and suspension action from the rear of the bike

with 25 degrees rake and 97.5 millimeters of trail.

The FC six has a generous 56.7 inch wheel base and

what this does is it offers a lot more stability.

So in the nice fast sweepers, this this bike just cuts through there without any nervous front in feel, it just has a real stable feel to it.

Rider protection comes from a frame mounted me

ferring with a wide windscreen

upright position, handle bars instead of clip ons deliver improved riding comfort.

The F CS 43 millimeter forks absorb and hold rolling on ultra light 17 inch wheels fitted with a 298 millimeter front disc

only. The bike's high tech instrument panel has received mixed reviews. The one thing that I don't like about the bike is that it also incorporates an L CD techno

meer

and the tack in certain light situations can be extremely difficult to read

with so much going for it.

That's a small price to pay for a bike with such a small price at

6499. The new Yamaha is getting a lot of attention

for what it costs as well as what it can do.

The FC 6 may be the best new value in the ultra competitive 600 class.

Check it out

next Tommy G in our sport bike project of the week.

Hey guys, welcome back to top dead center. I'm Tommy G. Our

Honda Sport bike is exactly the way we left it a few weeks ago.

Remember this bike was trashed after a really bad wreck.

We tossed everything that wasn't salvageable

and tricked it out with some crazy new wheels and rubber

bolted on some trick rotors.

A new high performance exhaust

added a new clutch

and these tricks super lightweight rear sets.

And before we send it off to the paint shop,

here's what our bike looked like with a new body kit.

Well, we got it back from Kenny Reynolds. He's the best custom painter that we know come here and check this out.

Look at that,

look at the detail.

Oh That, that, that's it. Step back a little bit.

That's all I can show you for now.

I've got a lot more work to do on this before we mount the body kit.

Let's first start with the new chain. We're going with the GXW ring chain from,

these are high speed heat resistant chains with 50% longer wear life compared to standard O

ring chains.

This bike hasn't been started in months, so we'll put in a new battery from

U

obviously, it hit the payment so hard, it destroyed the clip ons.

We're going to put on these super strong replacements from Vortex.

The mouse are machined from solid billet and the clip ods are at a 10 degree angle for a comfortable riding position

to get the old ones off. First, remove the top clamp knot

loosen the punch bowls

and bought the ignition.

Then with the little prime,

the top clamp will come right off,

followed by our broken clip ons

reverse the process to mount the new hardware

with the throttle side transfer. Now I'll tackle the clutch lover.

All right guys. Now that we got the clip on on,

I'll get up here and adjust them to where I really want them

because, you know, after I put this nice paint on here, I've got to write it before I let Allen write it.

But let me get cleaned up and then I'll get the grips on.

Remember what our air tech body kit looked like when we

fed it up.

Well, here it is. Now,

I told you guys it was gonna look nuts.

This has got to be one of the best paint jobs I've seen in a long time

when this is on.

It'll look like the bike gripped the checkered flag right out of the starter's hands.

So just sit back, relax

and watch this Honda transform.

This is a two man job. The last thing you want to do is drop a piece or ding anything against the frame.

We are done.

Mhm.

Once again the CBR before

and after. Wow, what a difference.

We thank Kenny Reynolds originals of Chattanooga Tennessee for this tricked out treatment.

The base coat is chrome yellow with fire orange accents.

The checker work is pearl blue and really gives it that racing look

as do the racing stripes and number plates on the rear.

And what's amazing

this Honda looks like it's moving

even though she's standing still.

All right guys. Now it's time for some new products now. No, this is not a giant dentist mirror. It's actually a ball shaped cruiser mirror from hurst. It's an adjustable two and a quarter inch chrome steel ball inspired by the shape of the famous hurst shifter. Now they'll bolt on most cruisers and they'll set you back about $100.

Now, this is designed to wash your vehicles or motorcycles without hand drying.

It's the auto dry wash system from Mr Clean. It has a filter that de ionizes water, eliminating spots and any need to hand dry. It also includes soap that goes into the handle. You just hook it up to your hose. How it's great for custom paints and windshields that can get scratches, wind wipes

dry. You can pick one up for about $30.

Now, if you ride off road, you'll appreciate this new aluminum bike stand

from IC W.

Now it features a half inch thick pad for traction

and it's got wider legs for more stability in the sand and dirt.

It also has a removable tool tray

and parts tray.

Now, they can be painted to match your bike and they run about $80 a piece.

Well, guys, that's about all for this week, but next week

we'll take off with motorcycle distance jumper, Ryan Capes as he sets the new ramp to ground world record.

Well, thanks for watching Ride Safe and we'll see you then.
