Hey, welcome to horsepower and phase two of our project Stroker ST
last time in here, we broke some new ground by installing a Stroker kit on this late model Mustang
that is after a baseline run with the stock 4.6 L engine
and it made 265 horsepower at the rear wheels.
Then the motor and transmission came out from the bottom.
Later at Huntsville engine and performance, they line home, the mains
owned the cylinders
polished and boarded the heads
and machined them for a three angle valve job
back home. We installed the Stroker kit,
an eagle iron crank,
eagle rods
and aluminum pistons from a,
we also installed new cams from crane
and as a bonus added under drive pulleys and long tube headers from BBK.
Finally, we bolted up a new twin disc clutch from Zoom.
The Stroker kitten cams were all we really needed to stroke this new Mustang. But as you can see, we're throwing a bunch of other parts at it to see what kind of performance we can pull out of this popular new pony. In fact, with the engine back in, we're going to help it breathe better with this BBK power plus throttle body with twin 62 millimeter openings compared to the factory's 50 fives
start by disconnecting the electrical connections
next loosen and remove the throttle body.
Now, remove the motor housing, plastic cap spring
and throttle position sensor.
Remove the circular cap using your finger.
Now with the plastic cap spring over the new throttle body shaft and the spring aligned. Install the motor housing and tighten
next, install the TPS onto the throttle body and Titan.
By the way, it does not need to be clocked or rotated.
Now, install the throttle body back onto the intake.
Now we're going to make sure we get more air to that new throttle body. Cold air kits are a popular and cost effective way of freeing up horsepower. And we like this kit from BBK because it replaces the restrictive rubber in the tube that stock with this one made of cast aluminum, much bigger and much better flowing. Of course, part of the secret is a much better flowing air filter as well.
Since we already removed the stock assembly. When we pulled the motor, we just have to remove this radiator cover
and this driver side hold down plate
and we're ready for the installation.
First, I'm gonna slip this couple of hose over the throttle body,
tighten it down.
And after transferring the mass air meter to the new inlet pipe,
we can slip the inlet tube through the shield
and install the filter.
Then we can drop the entire assembly in place under the hood
and connect the inlet to the throttle body coupler.
Then after bolting this hold down plate back in place, we can reconnect the mass air meter
and the P CV.
The last thing to go on under the hood is this aluminum plenum
cover
because it just looks good
while Joe was installing the cold air kit, I went ahead and pulled out the shifter console for our next step. Now, this factory Mustang shifters are a little bit mushy and definitely fragile when you start banging the gears. So we stepped up to this profi O super shifter that delivers short throws and positive gear stops. It's made from CNC machine billet and comes with every piece you need to install it
with the drive shaft out of the way we can access the stock shifter to unbolt it
and remove it,
then put the shifter assembly into place
and loosely bolt up the rear mounting bracket
next, secure the mounting rail to the transmission.
And after tightening all the mounting in shifter bolts, we're finished underneath.
Now, time to go inside the car and adjust the positive stops.
This will prevent over engagement of gears when you slam the shifter into place.
By the way, the shifter handle has a high and low mounting position to suit your style. Now, with the shifter console back in place, let's talk about the knob. We went ahead and reuse the factory one for the sheer fact that it still matches the boot. But profi oh, sends either this black or polished one for a cool look. Now it looks like we've got more tricks in store for the Stroker staying. So make sure you hang with us.

OSE GT. We're calling project Stroker thing.
Now, we call it that because of the eagle Stroker kit, we just installed
along with more aggressive hydraulic camps from crane.
Now, while we were at it, we also threw in a bunch of other performance boltons to get as much power out of the street pony as we possibly can.
Well, meanwhile, this kind of reminds me of my divorce. She got the gold mine.
I got the shaft seriously. The stock mustangs now come from the factory with a two piece drive shaft
that use this carrier bearing that can cause a drag on the drive line. Thus, a parasitic power loss at the rear wheels. This replacement drive shaft from finanza eliminates that problem. Plus at 20 pounds, it's half the weight of our stock drive shaft.
It uses a solid mount flange
and the slip yoke
for an easy installation.
Earlier, we installed a cold air kit to bring more cool air into the mustang's motor.
And we also installed long tube headers to improve that flow on the exhaust side.
Now, we need to install this shorty X pipe with cats from BBK.
Now, this is a two and three quarter inch manual bent piece made from aluminized tubing. The cool thing is the converters interior is made from woven steel, not ceramic. So a cat failure is pretty unlikely.
And from the ex pipe, we're running this 2.5 inch stainless mid pipe from magna Flow
and from there to a pair of their magna pack mufflers that are performance tuned
for more horsepower with a more aggressive tone than stock.
They also include these polished stainless tips for a trick look. Now, by the way, according to Magna Flow's
dyno Sheet, they picked up 11 horsepower and 14 ft pounds of torque on a stock GT using this system.
The new Mustangs have a much better suspension than their predecessors, but there's still lots of room for improvement, especially for handling and a cooler, better ride height.
We discovered that first hand a few months ago when we upgraded the suspension on this 06 model and took it up for right.
Well, for this 07, we hand picked an upgrade that consists of these I box sport line springs,
Bill Stein shocks
and a set of their mono
struts. Hey, check this side by side, here's a spring that came out of the mu
saying here's one of the new ones, a full two inches shorter for a better ride height. Plus this thing has a progressive spring rate that will help prevent everything from body roll to nose diving. When the car breaks.
By the way, these shocks have special valving inside that help keep the wheels in contact with the road for better handling.
Next. After installing the spring,
we can bolt up the lower end of the shock
up front, the strut and spring go up in place together
and with the spindle pushed up,
we can slide a bolt in,
tighten the top bolt on the shop tower
and bolt the sway bar to the strut.
Then after bolting up the calipers, we're ready for wheels and tires. And since we've tried a little bit of everything on this project,
we wanna see what this lowered Mustang will look like with these ASA
19 inch five spoke
CASS wheels we got from the tire rack,
we wrapped them in some 2 45 45 19 Yokohama advents
a good high performance all season street tire.
No doubt we've improved the looks, the stance and attitude of the Stroker staying the question is,
how much horsepower did we gain with at Stroker kit and those other performance goodies? Well, truth is we gotta do some R and D on this project. We are breaking new ground
so it'll be a few weeks before you see us, tune it and test it. Meanwhile, we're off to the races and we'll meet you there,

first. You got to bring in some of the most desperate outlaws in racing

big crowd, big show and he got a nice payout.

after you've cooked up a recipe for exciting eight mile racing throw in a little local flavor.

And the result is a hot party that's fat with power and all configurations
and loaded with hair raising thrill.
Keeping up with the classes won't make you crazy if you consider that stock suspension is basically like
Ora's easy street.
This class is actually a little bit more open. They don't really have any motor rule and you can run a slick. A true 10.5 inch slick. Uh,
we still run on our radio. Everything we know is on the radio so we just keep it on there and it seems to be doing all right. Apparently not too much of a disadvantage. Is it No, not much.
Then there's true. 10 5, which is basically
Orca's limited streaks.
The Texas guys call it true. 10 5, we call it Limited Street, but basically it's the same thing. We don't run Willie bars. They do.
And there's the baddest of the bad outlaw. 10 5
with enough power to cook your crawfish while smoking the meat.
The reason that I'm actually here in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, uh, because there's supposed to be some bad boys here from the east coast. So we're trying to come over here and put it on them for Texas.
Qualifying rounds were filled with racers trying their tune ups on a cool unpredictable track
too much and you spin the tires
or feel your bel air bucking instead of cooking.
There's a wild ride for you.
Just the right tune up though and you could be smelling a record breaking win. Shane Stack. Got a whiff of that after running a 502 and a 498.
So he and the crew felt pretty good about taking home some first place cash.
We're gonna try our best to, we, we need to go home with it. We got like $20 to make it home.
I don't know about his wallet but in his heart, the first place 2, 10, 5 guy wants to win just as bad.
Well, I'm gonna just try to keep
my basic tune up and, uh, not try anything crazy and go out there and just try to win rounds.
The eyes of Texas must have been staring at Matt Jones and his nova here he wowed the crowd with a 455 and 100 60 miles an hour.
I tell
you with that. The Texas boys are number one qualifier.

and Joe's red lights as Blackman soars to his first fat Tuesday crown.
Well, both tire smokers one red light
and I was actually pretty good. I had a 32 light, I think on the tree, but we turned the wick up, petty
threw everything we had at it and this guy lucky he red lighted, but he blew the tires off too
and the party goes on. It's this little track with a reputation for not the biggest
but surely the baddest that Tuesday bash ever.
Hey, welcome back to the shop where horsepower is our name and our aim in most of our build ups. Now, of course, that involves a bunch of different things including the handling of heat underneath their hood. Chances are you've heard of an old racer's trick of painting the underside of an intake manifold white to keep it cooler for the incoming air. We don't know of any scientific tests that proved if it worked or not.
But if it did, it may have been that the coating helped prevent heat from sinking into the metal. And of course, the color white
heat.
So, who knows? Maybe that was a factor too. We've read up on this quite a bit on the internet recently and it seems a lot of you guys are coating the underside of your intake with various coatings. And right now we've got a trick that combines a little bit of the old and new. Best part is it only costs you the price of a can of duplicate
white ceramic engine paint.
After some masking, we apply two light coats
followed by a medium coat allowing 10 minutes in between each one.
All the coats have to be applied within an hour. Now, if you want to lay an extra one down for good measure after that plan on waiting about seven days. See, it's the ceramic resins in the paint that actually dissipate the heat. Now, the can of duple color enamel I use has been
dyno tested up to 500 degrees. They also have their high heat version, which they claim is good up to 1200. While on the internet, we discover that some hot
are taking this a step further by painting the outside of their intake manifolds with black paint preferably with a matte finish since black dissipates heat more evenly and quickly.
Well, I guess anything's worth a try if it helps in the management of heat exchange. Oh, here's a little fun fact though that relates to the rest of your motor. A
chrome out engine looks impressive parked in the weeds at a car show.
However, in theory that reflective crow makes it harder to transfer heat through the motor and on out,
that would seem to especially apply in a street ride with a motor that's mostly exposed. So in theory, at least a motor painted all black like this will be a lot more efficient and cooler
even if it doesn't look so cool. Well, speaking of fate, time for this week's horsepower hot parts.
If you want to save money restoring your interior, don't buy a new dash or door panels. Go ahead and spray them with duple colors, new vinyl and fabric coating. It sprays on easy and makes everything look brand new. In fact, it works so good. We're going to use it on our 79 Malibu project
with it prepped. You just spray it on evenly like paint and it dries quickly with a finish that really looks like new.
Well, what do you think? Pretty big difference? Huh?

And right now we've got a trick that combines a little bit of the old and new. Best part is it only costs you the price of a can of duplicate
white ceramic engine paint.
After some masking, we apply two light coats
followed by a medium coat allowing 10 minutes in between each one.
All the coats have to be applied within an hour. Now, if you want to lay an extra one down for good measure after that plan on waiting about seven days. See, it's the ceramic resins in the paint that actually dissipate the heat. Now, the can of duple color enamel I use has been
dyno tested up to 500 degrees. They also have their high heat version, which they claim is good up to 1200. While on the internet, we discover that some hot
are taking this a step further by painting the outside of their intake manifolds with black paint preferably with a matte finish since black dissipates heat more evenly and quickly.
Well, I guess anything's worth a try if it helps in the management of heat exchange. Oh, here's a little fun fact though that relates to the rest of your motor. A
chrome out engine looks impressive parked in the weeds at a car show.
However, in theory that reflective crow makes it harder to transfer heat through the motor and on out,
that would seem to especially apply in a street ride with a motor that's mostly exposed. So in theory, at least a motor painted all black like this will be a lot more efficient and cooler
even if it doesn't look so cool. Well, speaking of fate, time for this week's horsepower hot parts.
If you want to save money restoring your interior, don't buy a new dash or door panels. Go ahead and spray them with duple colors, new vinyl and fabric coating. It sprays on easy and makes everything look brand new. In fact, it works so good. We're going to use it on our 79 Malibu project
with it prepped. You just spray it on evenly like paint and it dries quickly with a finish that really looks like new.
