(NARRATOR)>> TODAY ELIZA AND JEREMY ARE GETTING THE BRAKES INSTALLED ON OUR PRERUNNER RANGER, AND IT'S AN ALL NEW ACCESSORY DRIVE FOR OUR COYOTE ALUMINATOR. THEN ELIZA'S CHECKING OUT WHAT'S GOING ON AT LS FEST EAST. IT'S ALL RIGHT HERE ON XOR.
(JEREMY)>> HEY GUYS, WELCOME TO XOR. WELL NOW THAT WE HAVE THE RACE SUSPENSION INSTALLED ON OUR 2002 RANGER IT'S TIME TO GO OVER ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THIS ENTIRE BUILD, AND THAT'S THE BRAKES. NOW HERE'S THE PARTS WE'RE GONNA USE TO GET ALL THIS PUT TOGETHER. WE WENT OUT AND GOT A DANA 44 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE FRONT SPINDLE. NOW I KNOW THAT IT'S WEIRD THAT WE'RE USING A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SPINDLE ON A TWO WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK BUT THERE'S A REASON WHY THE DO THIS. THEY DO IT FOR THE STRENGTH AND THEY DO IT BECAUSE THERE'S TWO BEARINGS THAT ARE SERVICEABLE. WE ALSO WENT OUT AND GOT A BRONCO HUB AND ROTOR CAUSE WE'RE GONNA MATCH THE BOLT PATTERN FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR, AND WE WENT OUT AND GOT ALL OF THE REST OF OUR BRAKE COMPONENTS. NOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO IS PUT ALL OF THIS TOGETHER ONTO THE SPINDLE BECAUSE I HAVE TO TAKE THE CALIPER AND THE CALIPER MOUNT AND WELD IT ONTO THE SPINDLE. SO WE'RE GONNA ASSEMBLE ALL THE BRAKES AND WE'LL WELD THE MOUNT ON.
THE FIRST STEP IS TO PRESS IN THE WHEEL STUDS THAT ACTUALLY HOLD THE ROTOR TO THE HUB.
I'M USING A GRADE EIGHT BOLT TO HELP ME GET DOWN IN BETWEEN THE HUB AND THE ROTOR.
NOW IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PRESS THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DOING THIS. YOU CAN USE THE GOOD OLE METHOD OF USING A HAMMER, WHILE I PREFER TO USE A BRASS HAMMER TO POUND THEM IN, OR YOU CAN USE THE TRIED AND TRUE METHOD OF USING THE LUG NUT TO JUST PULL THE WHEEL STUDS IN.
UNDERNEATH THE ASSEMBLY I'M PLACING A PIECE OF TUBING. NOW THAT KEEPS THE ROTOR AND THE HUB PERFECTLY LEVEL WHILE I'M PRESSING THE WHEEL STUDS IN.
NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ASSEMBLE THIS TOGETHER, PUT IT ON HERE, AND SET THE BRAKES ON. SO WE'LL GET STARTED. I'M ONLY ASSEMBLING THE HUB AND ROTOR SO I CAN GET THE DISTANCE ON WHERE TO PLACE THE CALIPER MOUNT. SO THE BEARINGS GO IN WITHOUT ANY GREASE.
TO KEEP THE ASSEMBLY TOGETHER I'M USING THE TOP BEARING AND ONLY ONE OF THE SPINDLE NUTS.
OBVIOUSLY TO CENTER THE CALIPER I'M GONNA NEED BOTH PADS IN PLACE.
OUR CALIPER BRACKET MOUNT CAME WITH THE KIT FROM LSK, AND THE GRADE EIGHT HARDWARE CAME FROM INDUSTRIAL DEPOT.

(JEREMY)>> OKAY, SO WITH THAT BRACKET TACKED INTO PLACE I'M GONNA TAKE A THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY APART CAUSE I'M GONNA ACTUALLY BURN IT IN. SO I MIGHT AS WELL JUST GET TO IT.
WE'RE DOING THIS FOR TWO REASONS. ONE, I NEED TO WELD THE BRACKET ON THE INSIDE BEHIND THE ROTOR, AND THE SECOND IS I DON'T WANT THE HEAT TO EFFECT THE BEARING.
NOW I'M GONNA LEAVE THE SPINDLE ON BECAUSE THERE'S A LIGHT COAT OF GREASE ON THE SPINDLE AND THE WELDS WON'T EVEN STICK TO IT. [ welder crackling ]

THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS IN THE WAY AND SO WAS THE ALTERNATOR. SO WE WENT TO POWER BY THE HOUR PERFORMANCE AND PICKED UP A COUPLE OF THINGS TO HELP US OUT. PBH MAKES A KIT THAT RELOCATES THE ALTERNATOR FROM THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE TO THE UPPER PASSENGER SIDE, AND THAT KIT INCLUDES A COUPLE OF TENSIONERS AND SOME PULLEYS, THE BRACKET TO MOVE THE ALTERNATOR, THROTTLE BODY SPACER, AND SOME BELTS. NOW WHEN WE RELOCATE OUR ALTERNATOR WE'RE ACTUALLY GONNA BE RUNNING IT BACKWARDS. SO WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH STYLE PULLEY AND GO TO JUST A STANDARD PULLEY. WE ALSO GOT FROM POWER BY THE HOUR A BRACKET THAT HELPS US RELOCATE THE OIL FILTER 90 DEGREES. AND THIS WHOLE PROCESS STARTS WITH REMOVING YOUR STOCK THROTTLE BODY. THEN INSTALLING THE SPACER, WHICH ACTUALLY CLOCKS THE THROTTLE BODY A LITTLE BIT TO THE RIGHT, AND THAT SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT MAKES WAY FOR ONE OF THE STAND OFFS.
MAKE SURE YOU GUYS GET THIS NICE AND TIGHT BUT REMEMBER, THIS IS ALL MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM. SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET CRAZY.
UP NEXT ARE THE THREE STAND OFFS THAT WILL HELP YOU MOUNT THE ALTERNATOR BRACKET.
AND CLEARANCE FOR THIS STAND OFF IS WHY THEY CLOCK THE THROTTLE BODY SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. THE MACHINED ALUMINUM BRACKET IS NOW BOLTED TO WHAT USED TO BE THE FRONT OF THE ALTERNATOR.
AND ALL THE HARDWARE YOU NEED TO INSTALL THIS COMES IN THE KIT.
AND DON'T FORGET TO INSTALL THE BELT BEFORE YOU SLIDE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY IN PLACE.
WITH THE ALTERNATOR IN PLACE YOU CAN INSTALL THE FIRST OF TWO SUPPLIED TENSIONERS.
THIS BELT THAT DRIVES THE ALTERNATOR GETS INSTALLED ON THE REAR OF THE BALANCER.
AND TENSIONER NUMBER TWO IS FOR THE BELT THAT WILL NOW DRIVE THE WATER PUMP.
ALL RIGHT, THAT RELOCATES THE ALTERNATOR. NOW WE'LL GO AHEAD AND PUT ON THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER, AND THIS PART IS ESSENTIAL FOR YOU GUYS DOING COYOTE SWAPS. THIS TURNS THE OIL FILTER 90 DEGREES SO YOU CAN STICK THE MOTOR PRETTY MUCH IN BETWEEN ANY SET OF FRAME RAILS.
THERE YOU GO, ALL DONE. FOR THOSE OF YOU GUYS THAT HAVE A 2012 TO 2013 JEEP JK WRANGLER WITH THE THREE POINT SIX LITER YOU GUYS MAY BE GETTING UP THERE IN MILEAGE. WELL POWERTRAIN PRODUCTS HAS THEIR COMPLETELY REBUILT THREE POINT SIX LITER TO HELP YOU GUYS OUT. THIS THREE POINT SIX LITER ENGINE IS FULLY REBUILT TO JEEP'S STANDARDS. IN THESE INSTALLATION KITS COME TWO BARS, THREE COLLARS, THREE COTTER PINS, AND A PUSH BUCKLE.
WITH THE PUSH BUCKLE'S TONGUE TACKED TO THE TOP BAR, IT ALLOWS ME TO POSITION AND TACK THE BUCKLE ITSELF TO THE ROLL CAGE. [ welder crackling ]
(ELIZA)>> WITH THE NET IN PLACE IT POSITIONS THE TOP BAR SO I CAN SLIDE THE REAR COLLAR AND TACK IT TO THE CAGE. AND THE SAME GOES FOR THE BOTTOM FRONT COLLAR, FOLLOWED BY THE REAR BOTTOM COLLAR. ALL OF THAT ALLOWS ME TO MARK THE LOCATION FOR THE COTTER PIN RETAINERS.

WELL THE REASON WHY YOU CAN'T DO THAT IS BECAUSE WITH BIGGER OFF ROAD TIRES YOU HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SIDEWALL AND THE LOAD RATING IS DIFFERENT. WELL WE'RE GONNA SHOW YOU A QUICK AND EASY WAY USING SIDEWALK CHALK THAT YOU STEAL FROM YOUR KID'S TOY BOX TO SET THE TIRE PRESSURE IN YOUR TIRES CAUSE WE DEFINITELY DON'T WANT THESE WEARING A HOLE IN YOUR WALLET. THE WAY THIS WORKS IS YOU WANT TO APPLY A LOT OF CHALK STRAIGHT ACROSS THE TREAD PATTERN OF YOUR TIRE. THEN IN A NICE EMPTY PARKING LOT GO FOR A DRIVE. MAKE SURE YOU GO STRAIGHT AND DON'T TURN YOUR TIRES. FOR OUR TEST WE WENT ABOUT 100 YEARS IN A PERFECTLY STRAIGHT LINE. WITH THE VIDEO SLOWED DOWN YOU CAN NOW SEE THE WEAR THAT'S HAPPENING ON THE CHALK.
WE DID OUR FIRST TEST AT 32 PSI AND COMING TO A STOP YOU CAN SEE THE NICE EVEN WEAR ACROSS THE TREAD. NOW THAT PROVES WITH THIS EVEN TREAD WEAR THAT 32 PSI IS THE PERFECT AIR PRESSURE TO BE RUNNING IN THESE TIRES WITH THE WEIGHT OF OUR SCOUT, BUT LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE BUMP IT UP TO LET'S SAY 50 POUNDS. WELL NOW THAT WE HAVE THE RACE SUSPENSION INSTALLED ON OUR 2002 RANGER IT'S TIME TO GO OVER ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THIS ENTIRE BUILD, AND THAT'S THE BRAKES. NOW HERE'S THE PARTS WE'RE GONNA USE TO GET ALL THIS PUT TOGETHER. WE WENT OUT AND GOT A DANA 44 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE FRONT SPINDLE. NOW I KNOW THAT IT'S WEIRD THAT WE'RE USING A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SPINDLE ON A TWO WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK BUT THERE'S A REASON WHY THE DO THIS. THEY DO IT FOR THE STRENGTH AND THEY DO IT BECAUSE THERE'S TWO BEARINGS THAT ARE SERVICEABLE. WE ALSO WENT OUT AND GOT A BRONCO HUB AND ROTOR CAUSE WE'RE GONNA MATCH THE BOLT PATTERN FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR, AND WE WENT OUT AND GOT ALL OF THE REST OF OUR BRAKE COMPONENTS. NOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO IS PUT ALL OF THIS TOGETHER ONTO THE SPINDLE BECAUSE I HAVE TO TAKE THE CALIPER AND THE CALIPER MOUNT AND WELD IT ONTO THE SPINDLE. SO WE'RE GONNA ASSEMBLE ALL THE BRAKES AND WE'LL WELD THE MOUNT ON.
THE FIRST STEP IS TO PRESS IN THE WHEEL STUDS THAT ACTUALLY HOLD THE ROTOR TO THE HUB.
I'M USING A GRADE EIGHT BOLT TO HELP ME GET DOWN IN BETWEEN THE HUB AND THE ROTOR.
NOW IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PRESS THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DOING THIS. YOU CAN USE THE GOOD OLE METHOD OF USING A HAMMER, WHILE I PREFER TO USE A BRASS HAMMER TO POUND THEM IN, OR YOU CAN USE THE TRIED AND TRUE METHOD OF USING THE LUG NUT TO JUST PULL THE WHEEL STUDS IN.
UNDERNEATH THE ASSEMBLY I'M PLACING A PIECE OF TUBING. NOW THAT KEEPS THE ROTOR AND THE HUB PERFECTLY LEVEL WHILE I'M PRESSING THE WHEEL STUDS IN.
NOW ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ASSEMBLE THIS TOGETHER, PUT IT ON HERE, AND SET THE BRAKES ON. SO WE'LL GET STARTED. I'M ONLY ASSEMBLING THE HUB AND ROTOR SO I CAN GET THE DISTANCE ON WHERE TO PLACE THE CALIPER MOUNT. SO THE BEARINGS GO IN WITHOUT ANY GREASE.
TO KEEP THE ASSEMBLY TOGETHER I'M USING THE TOP BEARING AND ONLY ONE OF THE SPINDLE NUTS.
OBVIOUSLY TO CENTER THE CALIPER I'M GONNA NEED BOTH PADS IN PLACE.
OUR CALIPER BRACKET MOUNT CAME WITH THE KIT FROM LSK, AND THE GRADE EIGHT HARDWARE CAME FROM INDUSTRIAL DEPOT.

WE'RE DOING THIS FOR TWO REASONS. ONE, I NEED TO WELD THE BRACKET ON THE INSIDE BEHIND THE ROTOR, AND THE SECOND IS I DON'T WANT THE HEAT TO EFFECT THE BEARING.
NOW I'M GONNA LEAVE THE SPINDLE ON BECAUSE THERE'S A LIGHT COAT OF GREASE ON THE SPINDLE AND THE WELDS WON'T EVEN STICK TO IT. [ welder crackling ]

THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS IN THE WAY AND SO WAS THE ALTERNATOR. SO WE WENT TO POWER BY THE HOUR PERFORMANCE AND PICKED UP A COUPLE OF THINGS TO HELP US OUT. PBH MAKES A KIT THAT RELOCATES THE ALTERNATOR FROM THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE TO THE UPPER PASSENGER SIDE, AND THAT KIT INCLUDES A COUPLE OF TENSIONERS AND SOME PULLEYS, THE BRACKET TO MOVE THE ALTERNATOR, THROTTLE BODY SPACER, AND SOME BELTS. NOW WHEN WE RELOCATE OUR ALTERNATOR WE'RE ACTUALLY GONNA BE RUNNING IT BACKWARDS. SO WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH STYLE PULLEY AND GO TO JUST A STANDARD PULLEY. WE ALSO GOT FROM POWER BY THE HOUR A BRACKET THAT HELPS US RELOCATE THE OIL FILTER 90 DEGREES. AND THIS WHOLE PROCESS STARTS WITH REMOVING YOUR STOCK THROTTLE BODY. THEN INSTALLING THE SPACER, WHICH ACTUALLY CLOCKS THE THROTTLE BODY A LITTLE BIT TO THE RIGHT, AND THAT SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT MAKES WAY FOR ONE OF THE STAND OFFS.
MAKE SURE YOU GUYS GET THIS NICE AND TIGHT BUT REMEMBER, THIS IS ALL MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM. SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET CRAZY.
UP NEXT ARE THE THREE STAND OFFS THAT WILL HELP YOU MOUNT THE ALTERNATOR BRACKET.
AND CLEARANCE FOR THIS STAND OFF IS WHY THEY CLOCK THE THROTTLE BODY SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. THE MACHINED ALUMINUM BRACKET IS NOW BOLTED TO WHAT USED TO BE THE FRONT OF THE ALTERNATOR.
AND ALL THE HARDWARE YOU NEED TO INSTALL THIS COMES IN THE KIT.
AND DON'T FORGET TO INSTALL THE BELT BEFORE YOU SLIDE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY IN PLACE.
WITH THE ALTERNATOR IN PLACE YOU CAN INSTALL THE FIRST OF TWO SUPPLIED TENSIONERS.
THIS BELT THAT DRIVES THE ALTERNATOR GETS INSTALLED ON THE REAR OF THE BALANCER.
AND TENSIONER NUMBER TWO IS FOR THE BELT THAT WILL NOW DRIVE THE WATER PUMP.
ALL RIGHT, THAT RELOCATES THE ALTERNATOR. NOW WE'LL GO AHEAD AND PUT ON THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER, AND THIS PART IS ESSENTIAL FOR YOU GUYS DOING COYOTE SWAPS. THIS TURNS THE OIL FILTER 90 DEGREES SO YOU CAN STICK THE MOTOR PRETTY MUCH IN BETWEEN ANY SET OF FRAME RAILS.
THERE YOU GO, ALL DONE. FOR THOSE OF YOU GUYS THAT HAVE A 2012 TO 2013 JEEP JK WRANGLER WITH THE THREE POINT SIX LITER YOU GUYS MAY BE GETTING UP THERE IN MILEAGE. WITH THE PUSH BUCKLE'S TONGUE TACKED TO THE TOP BAR, IT ALLOWS ME TO POSITION AND TACK THE BUCKLE ITSELF TO THE ROLL CAGE. [ welder crackling ]

AND COMING TO A STOP THIS TIME WE FIND THE CHALK IS WORE OFF ON THE DEAD CENTER OF THE TIRE. AND YOU CAN PRETTY MUCH ASSUME THAT THE EXACT OPPOSITE WILL HAPPEN WHEN WE DROP OUR TIRE PRESSURE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO LET'S SAY ABOUT 10 POUNDS. [ air hissing ]

THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS IS THAT IN JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES YOU CAN GET AN EFFECTIVE READING ON WHAT YOUR TIRES ARE REALLY DOING. NOW THAT'S PRETTY COOL. WITH SOME CHALK THAT YOU CAN PROBABLY STEAL FROM YOUR KIDS YOU CAN DO A REAL WORLD TEST TO FIND THE REAL WORLD TIRE PRESSURE TO RUN IN YOUR OVERSIZED TIRES.
